tony and vinny died together and they will be buried together. and it is so important that we be together today. we come from many different backgrounds, many different races, many different religions, many different genders and departments, but today we do this together. we do it because we have to be together at a time like this. every time that a firefighter goes out the doors of the fire house, they never know what they are really going to find. the dispatch can be as far as the moon from what they might actually find at the scene. and it might be just a false alarm, it might be a nuance call, it might not have any merits, it might be someone with bird food on the stove or a cut finger, or a cardiac arrest. a small fire can become as it did the other day, a greater alarm fire. so we go out that door, not knowing what we will find, and not knowing what we will really face. firefighters always respond together. but they usually respond to a stranger, to a stranger's home to a stranger's need, just as in the good samaritan today. and they never

you saw some of that drama there and vinnie politan was talking about it. what do you make of casey anthony and what has gone on in this trial? >> well, i mean it's really almost a greek tragedy the way this thing has unfold in court. course once the defense laid out its opening argument basically saying casey was a victim all of her life, sexual abuse at the hands of her father, caylee drowned in the pool and the father and her covered it up. basically he knew about the death this whole time and played like he didn't, it really took a turn for even more dramatic. lines to get inside the courtroom have been starting at midnight forecourt to get in the next day at 9:00. so, obviously, there's a lot of public interest about this case, and -- >> you're absolutely right. because we've seen the people rushing to get a seat in the morning. i mean really trampling each other to get a seat for this trial. what we're seeing on television, is it even more tense inside that courtroom, drew? >> you know, it really is. there's peaks and valleys. when we had george and c

today, at 11 years old, even though he's a little different from his peers, vinnie is self-sufficient and he's in mainstream school. he's doing well according to his iep and his education plan. sometimes during our conversations, he gives me the magic phrase, mom, you just don't understand. and to have the attitude to go with it and i smile and thank god for living in this great country but my joy is bittersweet because i think of all the children and families in africa and i shed a tear. the children in africa are not so lucky. they have nothing to help them, doctors don't have the equipment necessary to dealing with the problem and there is no follow-up program. as of now, a few ngos in countries like nigeria, cameroon, south africa, ghana are struggling to take on the challenge. these ngo were created mostly by parents who were frustrated by the lack of infrastructure to help their children. but they are faced with a variety of challenges, lack of funds, lack of support from the government, fear from family to shield the evil child with autism, et cetera. the mother told me once, i

vinny perez is in his marines uniform, sheriff's deputy uniform and having fun on boats. there are dozens of flower arrangements. this vigil is a preview of what is to come. 6,000 people are expected to attend the joint funeral tomorrow. as many as 40 fire departments will be represented. 150 bay area firefighter will be filling in for san francisco firefighters who want to attend tomorrow's funeral. at tonight's vigil family members will be sharing stories with people here, remembering fond times with perez and valerio. >> thank you, jean. both men remembered as the best of their kind. >> this funeral procession will wind through parts of the bay area. it will cause some traffic problems. interstate 280 will be closed from san francisco to daly city from 3:00 to 7:00. street closures will start at 9:00 a.m., geary boulevard westbound and eastbound. >> the traffic advisory for the procession you can see on 511.org. they are telling commuters to avoid these areas, take alternate routes. check in with the traffic reporter tomorrow morning. he will havehe latest information.
