in virginia. john mccain the speaker. the alternative was defaulting on our nation's debt that could have thrown us into economic turmoil. but no one has been a stronger advocate against sequestration. matter of fact, i laid out -- again, unlike my opponent -- with specificity and took the left and right on this in terms of a comprehensive plan for tax reform that would have avoided sequestration. matter of fact, i voted for both the republican plan and the democratic plan that would have replaced sequestration. and frankly, i was proud to receive the navy's highest civilian honor, the public citizen service award, because of my efforts to roll back sequestration. >> thank you. for both of you very quickly if you can answer this in 20 seconds, was the president right to rule out combat troops in this war against isis in syria? senator warner? >> i think he was not. i think he should not have ruled out -- >> you're open to it? >> listen, i think we have to leave all our military options open. i am

in virginia's marriage licenses look different tonight. earlier in the day, this form said "bride and groom." now it says "spouse and spouse." and even though the opportunity to marry is only hours old, some same-sex couples, including one that came to the arlington county courthouse stepped forward to make virginia history. these 26-year-olds from setterville wasted no time today taking advantage of the first chance for same-sex couples to get a marriage license. jennifer millsome and erika turn turner chose the arlington courthouse because they heard someone might be on hand to fish ate once their license was in hand.

pad in west virginia.y bill. i was the lead sponsor of a bill that is now the law in west virginia that closes a loophole that allows prosecutors to go after doctor shoppers. lead sponsor of the bill in west virginia to go after pill-mill doctors and make sure we shut them down. just a few blocks from here tonight, there are three or four babies at lilly's place that me, sarah, and rhonda, and mary, and countless number of other people brought to a reality, a first of its kind in the nation. and these babies are there being taken care of because they are drug-withdrawing babies. they were exposed to drugs during pregnancy. this is an epidemic. and there has been nobody that has fought harder to eradicate this ravage. i was the one who led the charge to stop the synthetic cocaine and marijuana, bath salts being sold in retail stores. i could go on and on. we have all been affected personally by this in some tragic ways. we can do a lot. it is job one. >> congressman rahall? any further to say? >> this is no

bush won virginia twice.ternated between democrat and republican governors and democrat and republican senators. it is a classic swing state. power shifts back and forth between the parties, but only in statewide elections. in virginia's 11 congressional districts, power rarely shifts. although a majority of virginia voters voted for president obama twice, only three of virginia's 11 members of congress are democrats. one of those democrats is the only african-american member of the virginia congressional delegation. bobby scott, who first won his seat 22 years ago. congressman scott has never won with less than 69% of the vote. and that is not necessarily a good thing for democrats. in 2012, after the republican-controlled legislature passed a redistricting bill that was signed by then-republican governor, bob mcdonnell, now convicted felon, bob mcdonnell, congressman scott won with 80% of the vote in his newly redrawn district. three voters in that district, virginia's third congressional district, sued the

thank you very much. >> charlottesville, virginia, given by the charlottesville, virginia, police chief, timothy longo. the announcement there, apparent human remains as described by the charlottesville police chief were found in the search for hannah graham. they were found in south albemarle county in an abandoned property. to be clear, police have not confirmed the identity of these remains, so no direct connection to hannah graham at this point. but found in an area where for the 35 days that she has been missing, investigators, along with civilian volunteers, have been searching for any sign of her. and, again today what the police are calling a significant development in this investigation. these apparently human remains found. and as the albemarle county police chief, colonel steve sellers said, sadly now this is a death investigation. but, again, i want to confirm that the i.d. has not been confirmed that these remains do indeed belong to hannah graham. i want to bring in now tom fuentes, former assistant director of the fbi. he's now cnn legal analyst. tom, again, you personall

the search for the missing university of virginia student has stretched into rural parts of virginia with no sign of hannah graham. days after graham went missing police searched 32 year old jessie matthew's home and car and charged him with abduction with intent to defile. matthew was arrested in texas after nearly a week on the run and is now behind bars in charlottesville, virginia. police now say matthew is connected to the 2009 murder of mark an harington. matthew bass working as a cab driver the night the is virginia tech student vanished in charlottesville and police interviewed several drivers at the time. >> our understanding again is that he was driving a cab the night that morgan was abducted. >> and asked what dark colored cars and i went down a list and asked them because i seen them again and said what cab company was it and he and when he told me i'm like oh, okay, great it wasn't us. >> attorney is not commenting. haringtons case does share a forensic link to a 2005 sexual assault and in 2002 and 2003, matthew was named as a suspect in two other rapes but those women
