start with the breaking news that president trump spoke at length today with russian president vladimir putin. it's their first call since the end of the russia investigation and, yes, the mueller report did come up in their conversation. now, remember, president trump said -- i'm sorry, president putin rather said that russia never meddled with the 2016 election, though the mueller report said this, quote, the russian government interfered in the 2016 presidential election in sweeping and systematic fashion. i want to bring in our kaitlan collins. she is at the white house. kaitlan, do we know what exactly they discussed, for how long and what they didn't discuss? >> well, pam, sarah sanders said this call lasted a little over an hour, but she said only briefly did they discuss the mueller report. of course, this is the first call between the two leaders since that report was released recently to the public, and she said it came up briefly. they talked about it in a sense that they were ready to move on from the russia investigation, something that the president at times has hampered his int

though, the president started talking about this call between himself and russian president, vladimir putinthe president's call with putin, i know they hit a range of issues. what are the discussions, what are the rumblingings you are hearing there? >> that's right. the call between russian president, vladimir putin, and president trump lasted more than an hour, according to the white house. they talked about everything from venezuela to north korea and even russian interference in the 2016 election or the investigation of it from robert mueller. president trump told reporters he did not ask that putin not interfere in the 2016 election. take a listen. >> we discussed if he actually, sort of smiled when he said something to the effect that it started off as a mountain and ended up being a mouse. he knew that because he knew there was no collusion whatsoever. [ inaudible question ] >> we didn't discuss that. >> there was a lot of attention on the fact the president did not address russian interference with vladimir putin. they only talked about the end of the special counsel's investigation.
