back there, is the walter reed medical center. on the grounds, there is a tree with a plaque on it that supposedly says this is where confederate sharpshooters shot at lincoln. the same thing happened on the second day. that is what that plaque represents. a union surgeon by the name of crawford was standing next to lincoln, probably right here, and was shot in the leg. that is when lincoln was ordered down. lincoln, six feet four and his hat made a pretty tempting target. the legend has grown up that it was holmes that told lincoln to get down, you fool and instantly regretted saying it. i have a whole chapter in the book about that incident. i came to the conclusion that that was an impossible story. it wasn't published until 1928. supposedly, holmes had been telling it privately but you always had to be suspicious about something that comes out well after the fact. i have gone back to letters that were written at the time and memoirs. yes, lincoln did stand here and yes, and someone did yell at him to come down. more than likel

it would have been embarrassing to go to write aid opposed to cvs and walter reed which is also cvs.'m saying it is a better buy because it has pulled off a magnificent turnaround because it gave 100% gain i recommended it last year at this time. i think the stock has become a real bargain. remember, rad is down because the company cut its four year earnings guidance. normally, we dislike companies that guide down. guide down means go down. why am i bullish on rite aid, still? as much as the market has punished this stock for the lowered forecast, i think it was nothing more than a hiccup. the reason management had to slice the numbers was because of an unforeseen issue with a wholesale drug supplier. they expected to get cheaper drugs and they had to push it back to a different date. earnings didn't disappear but went to a different quarter. a little bit of money was not made, i accept that but the stock has been crushed. they reaffirmed the updated guidance and the company's renovation from remodeling old stores to newellness format is still delivering terrific resulteds. wellness

four weeks ago i went to walter reed at bethesda. i saw three army soldiers from fort bragg, which is not in my district, mr. speaker, but i chatted with them, all three had lost one leg in afghanistan. my main purpose of going to walter reed was to see two marines from camp lejeune who had been severely wounded. but i thank god i had a chance to talk to the three soldiers and thank them for their gift of their legs for our country. as i went over to the young marine from camp lejeune who was 23, he's like this soldier in the poster, the young marine had lost both legs and an arm and i looked in the face of his father who probably was 50, 51 years of age and all i saw was pain and worry and trouble in the eyes of the father. because like this young soldier who lost both legs and an arm, you can only hope the best for their future. the second marine i saw from camp lejeune has stepped on a 40-pound i.e.d., lost both legs, has a wife, i did not meet her, and an 8-month-old baby girl. i did not meet. he was very proud of his wife and hi

one way we've been able to help is a marine who was at the army base in washington, at walter reed, he handicap sticker on his car, but it expired. and because he was a marine, they didn't get him an updated one in time, and he parked for dinner a couple hours outside d.c., and police towed his car because he had an expired registration. he had to take a taxi back up to make a surgery the next morning. the surgery got complicated. he needed three more surgeries. by the time he could finally address his car, he owed the tow company $3,000, and in the state of virginia, that's enough for them to sell your car. so troopsneedyou stepped in, they reduced the fee down to $1,000. we were able to pay that directly to the tow company and the troop got his car back. imagine what his life would have been like if in the middle of these surgeries they lose their only family car. that's where we're able to offer emergency family assistance and really make a difference to help those troops move forward. >> we're out of time. how can our viewers get involved in this organization, real quick? >> sure.
