yeah, i can confirm it is in fact snowing in washington, d.c. it did start in the past hour. it's not really sticking on the ground yet. that is good news for the folks behind me. i'm here at one of the d.c. department of public works locations where they have been spending all day filling up some of the salt trucks, filling up the plow trucks with the hundreds and hundreds of pounds of salt that is going to go across the 1500 miles of d.c. streets. this is an unbelievably massive operation they have going. there's a snow emergency, it's called here, in washington, d.c. it really allows these guys to get out on the road and do the work they need to do. it is an operation that includes more than 200 snow plows and hundreds of folks across the city. we spoke to some of them earlier today. here's what they had to say about their message to the public. >> stay on top of it, right? stay on top of it. continue to put forth our public message. and that public message is real simple. stay home if you can. stay off the roads. three, give my trucks space and time between there so we can

washington, d.c.,, we are actually in a little bit of a lull and temperatures aged degree or two aboveg because that means we will not see as much ice for now. will that change the next hour or two coke? maybe but the nation's capital for getting ice is pretty slim. i think about 8:00, 9:00, we should be on the better side at the forecast. we cannot be said for everybody. i-95 corridors and philadelphia, slick roads with colder air and the cold they are only like to call at high pressure off the northeast coast funneling and that canadian colder air against the allegheny mountains into the apalachee. it is in d.c., carley and todd, northwest of town, reports a pretty slick roads and dangerous conditions because of one-tenth to a quarter inch of ice to accumulate not just on roads the power lines, tree branches. that will be a concern for power outages some of which we have seen overnight, ohio, chicago, very slick this morning. a couple inches of ice accumulated through the overnight hours. this is just the beginning. we get another storm coming into this weekend and what seems to be a
