this was a very bad disaster up in washington state. actually at the home of california task force three in menlo park a warehouse full of interesting devices heavy equipment and things like this. this is actually called the search cam. the camera extends on a pole and you can look into tight crevices with these lights and camera and find bodies. this is the type of equipment they just took up to washington state to help search for victims. frank worked rescue and recovery operations at katrina and the world trade center. today he is just back from the landslide in washington state, an operation he said was even more difficult. >> katrina, many of those victims were found on top of the surface or in areas where we could easily acquire them. we didn't have to dig for many of those. this here was complicated by the millions of cubic yards of mud and dirt, debris and trees on top of them. >> reporter: he is a division chief with menlo park fire but a section leader with fema's national urban search-and- rescue team. he spent almost the pas
