brown's death was the fist homicide in waterloo of the year. new this morning, a crash involving an atv killed a kalona woman this weekend. the iowa state patrol says 28-year-old alex merritt of iowa city was driving an atv at 100 shiloh drive, early yesterday morning. investigators say merritt and a passenger, 22-year-old elizabeth lenton , were ejected from the atv after it rolled. lenton died on the way to to university of iowa hospitals and clinics. we don't know his injuries at this time. a bicycle crash killed a 10-year-old boy in davenport. police responded to the 39 hundred block of rockingham road on friday night. investigators say the boy was riding his bike down a hill. he lost control and struck a tree. paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. authorities are not releasing the boy's name until family members are notified. protests against the bakken pipeline got violence started after construction crews destroyed native american burial and cultural sites. authorities say protesters injured four security guards and two guard dogs
