i'm wendy rieger. >> i'm jim vance.oman's body was found on a northwest branch trail in chillum, maryland. a jogger spotted the victim just after 7:00 this morning. our darcy spencer is on the scene now with more. darcy? >> reporter: jim, i'm told that this victim suffered a horribly violent death in the woods right behind me. let me show you where this investigation is happening. you see the two police cars there locking the entrance to the path. i'm told her body was found down the path right there in the wooded area. if we pan over we can show you this is how close this was to rosa parks elementary school off of eger road in prince george's county. investigators believe this woman was in her 20s. she was found with trauma to her upper body. police are waiting for the medical examiner to determine when, exactly she died, but they believe it likely happened some time last night or early this new year's day. right now they're calling it a death investigation, but they do believe it will turn into a homicide. right now t

i'm wendy rieger. >> i'm jim handly.ght we're learning about arrests in two separate murders in popular city parks. let's get right to news 4's pat collins live at police headquarters with details. pat? >>. >> reporter: jim, last year the city of alexandria had four murders. today they closed two of them. the suspects, gang members. alexandria police have closed two murders that happened in two of the city's parks late last year. though they say the two cases are unrelated, the suspects in each of the murders are said to be members or associates of the ms-13 gang, and these deadly acts evidence of the rise in gang violence in alexandria. >> the intensity of the violence haskhd risen a great deal than last couple of years. we, unfortunately, had two of the victims here in alexandria die because of that violence. >> reporter: november 9th, 24-year-old jose perez found nearly decapitated in beverly park. a popular play place for children known in the neighborhood as the pit. police are not saying the motive for the murder,

i'm wendy rieger. >> i'm jim handly.that wreck involved nine vehicles and now we're learning more about the person that may have triggered it. this was on the intersection of route 202 and lottsford road in the largo area. let's go right to pat collins. what have you learned? >> reporter: jim, it was a violent crash that took the life of a 53-year-old woman and police say the driver who caused it didn't have a valid license. the man who was in this truck, the truck that triggered a nine-car crash. the crash that killed a 53-year-old woman. that man, police say was driving on a suspended license and had a warrant out for his arrest to face a driving under the influence charge. that man has been identified as 34-year-old juan sanchez. according to court documents obtained by news 4, sanchez was arrested on new year's day 2014 and charged with speeding, driving under the influence, driving while impaired and when he didn't show up for trial a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.

. >>> and i'm wendy rieger at the live desk where we just learned of a stabbing not far from wilson high school in northwest d.c. this investigation is occurring right now on 40th street behind the tinnily town whole foods and wilson high. police tell us the person stab side expected to be fine and they sent out a lookout and they're looking for two teenagers who they think are responsible for this. shomari stone is headed to the scene and we'll have a live report as soon as he gets back from there. >>> police in prince george's county are about to hit the streets hoping that folks can help them figure out who shot and killed a young man and why. >> investigators will be passing out flyers where a man was discovered dead in his apartment. the victim, franklin young, jr., was 29 years old. news 4's molette green talked to residents who said they heard the gun shot. >> reporter: shots fired on the third floor. the front door is marked with red evidence tape and padlocked. neighbors say they heard the gun fire. >> all i heard was a gun shot which i thought was someone kicking on the door. a

i'm wendy rieger. would you like to smoke pot but you can't in your home because you have kids? maybe you'd like to go to a club to do that. the d.c. council voted to allow that and then suddenly reversed it. this was a bit of a surprise. what do you guys think? what happened? >> i think the council had to be surprised they got a call from the mayor after they voted to approve this and the mayor said, i don't think we're ready for this and reversed it. i thought that was unusual. you would have thought the mayor and her staff had seen it on the agenda and made that call before it. that's one interesting facet of it. the other is why did the council feel they want to do it. we know the law says you can grow it at home, smoke it at home, but you can't do it outside the home. >> do you think it's too soon as we feel our way through it? >> right. that would be the sense i would have. why would it be okay to have it in a private club and if you're going to approve it, what's the next step? public space? because some might say what's a public club? somewhere in your house, some place
