bernie sanders won 52% of women in west virginia. he won 61% of independents in west virginia. on economic issues, on voters that care about those, he won a 55%. 50% of bernie sanders voters said they would vote for donald trump. that to me is the most telling. would you agree with that? >> the figure i saw was one third of democratic voters said they would vote for -- but let's face it. toni is right, west virginia was not a good state for hillary clinton. west virginia does not like hillary clinton and that is partly because of her gaffes with respect to coal. also look at the demographics, 91% of the voters were white. where she does better with minorities. there were a lott of things -- >> is that an indication it could be a problem for her. >> could be. there were warning signs for her. not only her own mistakes but the rationale and enthusiasm on the other side of the aisle, the fact, as you heard earlier, the turnout was remarkable. we had never seen turnout like this on the republican side for a candidate. this is what she faces an enthusiasm gap within her own party an

what did you find out about west virginia and nebraska? >> literally the numbers are still coming in. a few things we can take a look at. maybe we can put some of them up on the screen. the west virginia democrats are fascinating to watch in the race. because we've heard anecdotally from many that they are voting for bernie sanders. voting for bernie sanders they're going to vote for donald trump in the fall. there is this sort of change that's been happening over the last several years. where west virginia is not looking as democrat as it was at one time. west virginia democrats 2016 vote for president, 44% hillary clinton, 33% donald trump. and 21% say they're not satisfied with either of the choices that they have. so when sanders is in the mix, take a look at this one, 48% for sanders, west virginia democrats. 32% donald trump, 18% say neither so there's a significant chunk of people on the democratic side, who are undecided. these are interesting, too. because these are numbers that we are seeing for the first time out of west virgini

west virginia is west virginia. it is a very unique situation with some very high unemployment, some comments that hillary clinton made about coal miners working against her. it's almost a bull's eye for the donald trump world view and message. so what does sanders take away from that? >> at this point for bernie sanders, it's all about momentum. it's all about keeping in the race, keeping going, and keeping his supporters energized about him. that's exactly what this win does. it keeps him going. it keeps his supporters supporting him and showing we're going to stay in this until the convention, which is what he's said for months. we talked to voters there last night, supporters there last night who said that they weren't sure about the math. they weren't sure he could get over the hump, but that all they were going to do was buckle down and keep supporting him and make sure that he got on to the next state, to the next state, and made it all the way to the convention. that's basically what this win does. it keeps

donald trump winning west virginia. he hit 76% of the vote in west virginia.ohn kasich, they dropped out. hillary clinton thinking, why can't i have a situation like that? because this is what happens when she is still running against bernie sanders. she loses. west virginia, by 15% there. what does that mean for the delegate race? not a lot. look at this. bernie sanders nets just 5 delegates, despite his big 15-point win there. on the republican side, donald trump, he right now will net at least 39 delegates. that number's going to go way up once west virginia's convoluted system works itself out. donald trump getting much, much closer to the 1,237 delegates he needs. he will get there without these two gentlemen left in the race. on the democratic side, hillary clinton about 148 delegates now from the majority she needs to reach the nomination. that does include her big edge among super delegates, but, again, the sanders team admits now if they are going to get the nomination they have to flip super delegates. that's what they need to work on between now and

let's look at what's going on in west virginia. john king is over at the magic wall. 24% of the vote is in. that's a significant number. >> at 10% we weren't sure what to make of it and you get to 24% you're starting to see a pattern develop. bernie sanders winning them. bernie sanders this one's closer. this one bernie sanders winning by a pretty healthy margin. you add that up, you do see a pattern starting to develop with sanders winning and in some cases winning quite comfort aab. hillary clinton has this one area in the state and otherwise it seems to be filling in for bernie sanders. since we've been above 15%, 18% it's held in this ballpark. at 25% if you're inside the sanders campaign, you think you're going to get the victory that you wanted and needed, democratic rules proportional, the delegates, bernie sanders will only pick up a handful of delegates. his net gain of delegates, this 29 at stake, his net gain will be five or six. >> walk us through california june 7th. he has to do amazing in order to beat her. she's got
