this one in the west hollywood neighborhood.al thousand people have gathered here to make their anguish and pain known regarding the case of george floyd. this is following a pattern that we have seen over the last couple of days here, neil. at that is that it is a very peaceful protest. that the police are giving the protesters time and space to make their anger are known. what we have seen over the past 48 hours is that the l.a.p.d. and in this case it will also be the west hollywood sheriff's department are trying trying to let the protesters have the time that they want and saying to them in effect, okay, if you respect their curfew, we will respect your right it to be in these streets to make your voices heard. we have seen it over and over again. in hollywood yesterday, and now here in west hollywood, there have also been protests today down in orange county. so far, those have all been peaceful, too. there has been a distinct change in the protesters and the policing since the violence we saw over the weekend. i got the s

this is the scene live in west hollywood with people walking along santa monica boulevard.ds have been out on the streets peacefully protesting and that is a theme that is being replicated in city after city across the us, philadelphia, san francisco, new york and washington, dc which has seen some of the biggest protests, you can see the yellow writing on that road there, that spells out black lives matter. this just a stone throw from the white house and people have been gathering not just there but also lafayette plaza and the new road renamed by the mayor black lives matter plaza. so thousands still out on the streets and it has now just gone 9pm in washington and many of them are still there. clarence williams is our reporter for washington post and has been covering the protests for over a week. he told me how today's protests are different from the previous days. it has been a full day of marching, speeches, protests, but largely or across—the—board i think also peaceful demonstrations. by far the largest in this area that we have seen. there have been demonstrations
