this is a live look at the west oakland bart station. to expect major delays this morning between san francisco and oakland. an accident inside the transbay tube overnight damaged more than 300 feet of track and repairs will take several more hours. until then, bart is single- tracking through the tube. >> and it's kept you mighty busy this morning. >> it has. delays are anywhere from a half hour to an hour now between the west oakland station which you just saw and getting into san francisco. but both directions are impacted. what's also impacted is the commute on the roads. everyone is hitting the bay bridge instead. so we are looking at probably half hour wait to get you on to the bay bridge. they have been cycling through the metering lights quickly so once you get past the metering lights up the incline section of the bridge our traffic cameras still show things moving well at that point into san francisco. so all the wait is behind the bay gates and on the approaches to the bay bridge toll plaza. other roads here is a live look at t

we are in the west oakland b.a.r.t. station which is the last b.a.r.t. station on the east bay before you head into san francisco. i got off of the phone just now from a b.a.r.t. spokesperson and they are telling me that essentially if you need to cross into san francisco or from the city into the east bay, be prepared for long delays. they said 20 minutes and probably even longer than that and you may want to work from home and take the ferry or ac transit, because at 3:00 in the morning, two maintenance vehicles working on the track collided. you can see here what is going on at the west oakland station, and not that many people in fact, because they just opened the gates 20 minutes ago, but this is the last stop from the east bay heading into the city. now, those maintenance vehicles collided inside of the tube about 380 feet from the oakland side at 3:00 this morning and the damage is to the third rail. i am told no workers were injured, but while the repairs are under way all trains are single tracking which means what it sounds like. they are going

>> reporter: we moved over to the west oakland bart station. a very busy entry point for passengers trying to get into san francisco. we expect that to get very, very busy. we learned about it just about an hour or so ago. it was an accident on the tracks but what has happened is the repairs are going to take a very long time. all that you need to know is they won't be done until the morning commute is over and that means the morning commute is very likely going to be a mess. there is pretty much no way around it. we have talked to e thbarts spokes people this morning. here's what they say happened. >> sometime early this morning i believe sometime in the 3:00 hour but i'm still waiting for details two bart maintenance vehicles collided inside the transbay tube. this time i haven't had any reports of injuries. what this means is there is damage to the third rail. we do still have service in the transbay tube but all trains have to share one track. we are single tracking through the transbay tube in order to repair the damage to the rail. >> rep

it is slow from west grand avenue headed over to the oakland area. have repair work going on right now that is repairing after a crash between two maintenance vehicles on the tracks damaging the third rail which carries the power underneath the bay. and normally, 22 trains per hour can travel from san francisco to oakland in both directions, but now down to about two trains, and that is why they have all lines delayed on both sides of the bay. this is a big problem. they have to repair 40 ceramic insulators that we have just gotten in from b.a.r.t. there is one of the insulators there, and 40 of those that have to be repairedkfz carrying the power cables along the third rail as well as a few hundred of track that has to be realigned after the collision underground overnight. so eight trains per hour traveling under the bay from oakland to san francisco. the triple effect is felt throughout the b.a.r.t. system. b.a.r.t., itself, is suggesting that people work from home. if you can, try that. and you can see the traffic backing up to the toll bridge, a

jackie sissel said the west oakland bart station with more on the situation. >> i'm at the west oaklandout you go to act before the tunnel. a lot people may have gotten the word of the delays. the parking lot is not even full yet. systemwide their major delays on bart and it will be that way for most of the morning commute. according to bart around 3:00 this morning there was made is going on in the trans they tunnel. at some point, to vehicles, to maintenance vehicles collided. at that point, a major section of track was damaged. they had the shot one of the two tracks that down in the trans bay tube tunnel. this meant they were going to have to sing old track through the trans bay tunnel. the damage that was done, about 400 ft. of track was affected in this accident. they say primarily, it was the third rail. that is a part of the track bed actually sends the power to the train. all hands are on deck and the tunnel right now attempting to fix it. the damage is already done however. there is only a single track of the tunnel on a normal they about 30 trains would go through per hour, n

it happened last night in west oakland, about 10:30 at 43rd and market. police say someone shot man and a woman as they walked out of the liquor store. there were several shell casings at the scene. police say it's possible one of the victims may have shot back. both victims are listed in serious condition. >>> we know the name of the woman what died in that crash involving a bus. according to "the chronic well, the woman is 36-year-old sara kline, a well-known burlesque performer. she was driving about 2:00 a.m., the car hit the center divide and then hit a party bus head on. her husband, a 43-year-old man, is now in critical condition. the chp said kline was not wearing a seat belt. dui is suspected. eight of the 18 people on their party bus suffered minor to moderate injuries. >>> a bomb scare involving a pressure cooker prompted police to shut down several stores and buildings in mountain view. the scare affected the san antonio shopping center last night. police say a neighbor noticed a pressure cooker which appeared to be hot outside of the lobby. t
