instead it's going to hold itself together on west palm beach all the way to jacksonville. then it makes its way back out to sea, perhaps looping back around as a much weaker storm. here is the forecast model of the expected rainfall over the next 24 hours. you can see these heavier bands of rain approaching jupiter, approaching melbourne as we approach tomorrow morning. possible landfall, if we were to see one, would be around 4:00 or 5:00 in the morning in florida. we've been talking about a storm surge. if you don't understand what that is, take your normal high tide and add feet of water on top thof that. keep in mind, coastal areas are your tidal areas, so you'll see massive coastal flooding. if we go far north, we can see a storm surge of 7 to 11 feet. jacksonville, florida at 3 to 6 feet of storm surge, we could see the whole downtown completely under water. and with a forecast of 7 to 11 feet, clearly that's why we're evacuating areas like that. also on the coast of south carolina, we could see a 3 to 7-foot storm surge. even though we're not looking at a direct hit
