[laughter] >>> if you have any questions about the fleet or how it's going down there at the wharf, we started our -- which is the first on the west coast -- the community fishing association 2-1/2 years ago with help from the port with the grant from the ocean protection council and some help from eco trust. and we started with 7 boats. what we do is we give our fishermen access to the hoist and access to market street. and i've been running this for these guys buying and selling all their fish. and then at the edv ~ end of the year we return through profit sharing all the profits of the business. the local fishermen love it and now we have 19 boats and still more people asking to join. we're able to put some of the most beautiful product on the market. we've been able to work with all the other processors. i think they were a littl

heart of the wharf. salmon, too, traditional main stay of the pacific coast fishery. salmon fishery is impacted directly by climate and the amount of freshwater levels in the river system. wild salmon, not farm salmon, wild salmon, is a delicacy that our fleet brings to our restaurants and our dinner tables that we should relish and enjoy. and then beginning as early as october and lasting through april, millions of fertile hering swim underneath the golden gate bridge to spawn. hering fishing in san francisco is one of the last urban fisheries. you can be in a high-rise building on the 22nd floor and see the aluminum landing craft in the wintertime and see the nets and seagullses flogging and that's happening at the foot of the port. ~ flocking in the early days of the port 19 rig sale boats called balukas built in the same style as italian fisherman. chinese and japanese made their income from the fish in the bay. wharf brings up a franchise issue. during the hearing sasha indicated she does not have a franchise and does not know why she's being associated with one. miss lewis full proprietorship with coffee and tea shop tea & oak & bbq is registered with the county office of the recorder. >> if you want to reference something on the overhead, please. >> overhead. she makes the assertion that the company name is the same as miss lewis. mr. her san's company was o'le an exotic coffee and tea. the judgment entered against the corporation was against mr. has an, not miss lewis. when sasha indicated she has no corporation and she is taken a back. she is taken back by this allegation because she can not see how her current permit was being associated with the corporation going by her then boyfriend. these entities are not the same and not in anyway associated with each other. fisherman. wharf attempted he is the words. she is in compliance with the code. the public works code says that the director may suspend the permit if she's not

wharf community benefit district. you have our briefs and you have the copy of our briefs down below which contain multiple declarations. what is significant about tonight is not what she said or her attorney said but what her attorney did not say. first it says she actually did operate for the continuous 6 months or longer and there is no evidence in the records below here or tonight that she did not break that rule. that is not in controversy. instead you have ten declaration from ten different witnesses saying they had never seen her operator her operate within the previous 6 months. in fact there is no evidence at any point that she did in fact operate. even miss lewis has said she did not operate ever except to hand out flyers. that is not operation of a business. to answer your question, this may in fact be evidence of abandonment of the business to the extent to which even miss lewis cannot testify to you tonight and say she ever operated the business. that evidence isn't in the record. second, what i also was

brannon street wharf today. last june we had the privilege of opening up just up north jefferson street promenade. february earlier this year, we did the james cruise ship terminal, the cruise ship terminal at pier 27. of course, last november we all did a lot of great celebration just a little bit more south here at head park, 22 acres of open space. we're literally honoring our open space obligations and doing it the right way. this particular project is impressive not only for its beauty and opening up more space, but it does in a seismically safe way and in a sustainable way accommodate some 75 years of projected sea level lies for our city. and that's incredible because we always are having to pay attention to all of our environment around our city. we're three quarters the bay. and, so, that's a respectful thing. we do it on ocean beach. we do it on the long golden gate. our maritime. of course, here in our waterfront. it's all also about history, not just with otis redding iii, not with the 150 years here

and this photograph shows the wharf wood frame sea wall, port engineering is working with the as-needed consultant in the engineering plans for the repair of this sea wall. and that concludes my portion of the presentation, nuday will complete the remainder. thank you. >> it provides protection for 100 years and however, faces challenges at sea level raise, and the total level associated with the 100 yard flood is at least 12 to 15 inches below the top of the port sea wall and on the west part of the water front with a few exceptions. one of these exceptions is the area low kailted between the agricultural building and pier 14 which you can see in this slide. this gets flooded frequently during the winter storms >> the red boundary indicates, extent on the basin, associated with the sea level rise of 15 inches by the year 2050 and the blue boundary indicates the siding associated with the rise of 55 inches by 2100. if you recall, one of the slides, you used in the presentation, the original coast line, matches clues, with the blue boundary that you see on this map. it is kind of interes

short walls along the wharfs and our adopting to a rise of 55 inches by 2100 appears to be a huge challenge. including bcdc and at the local regional and the state levels. also, with the sliding sea level, it will become increasingly difficult, to repair and maintain a port's piers. now, i will talk about the side and the liquidfaction issues. the ground below the structure resulting in sliding if you recall, joe's presentation, and the original coast line was somewhere along the western edge of the embarcadero and the space between the coast line and the existing coast wall is filled with soil, and several feet of ground and sliding of the sea wall, is expected, during the major seismic event and, although the flight risks associated with the sea level rise are expected to open gradually and either seismic event could happen any time, and the wide and spread chaos and destruction, and rebuilding, and this picture shows what could happen along the water front if we get 7.9 on the earthquake, a new building after the event will not be easy, it will be very expensive and it may take years. ne

can you think of a better song for this great wharf?probably know, otis redding was in san francisco to perform at the fillmore in the summer of 1967 and he found himself for a week on a sauselito house boat. on the bay came the inspiration for this incredible song. a couple months later he recorded the song and tragically passed 2008 way in a plane crash in 1967. this song became the last recorded song by otis redding. it is an incredible song, it is so befitting and it is something we thought would inspire everyone who comes to this wharf, not just today, but ongoing. and the otis redding family has graciously allowed us to use some of his famous lyrics here at the wharf. they will be permanently engraved at one of the markers down at the far end of the port. i'm sorry, of the park. and they will be here to inspire visitors and locals alike as they come to this place on our amazing bay. and otis redding left a legacy greater than just his music. he left his wife zelma and his wonderful children, four of whom are still with us. and thi

fisherman's wharf. we have one .8 square miles we have residents but by noon it can swell to over 5 hundred thousands. with chinatown and all the tourists we have 20 thousand rooms and 24 parks in that area. district supervisor is district 3 for the most part. david chiu covers most of the central district and jane kim covers central street. central it's 48 percent female. agencies are 17 and under 5 percent and we have a large senior population of 15.14 percent so we have twice as many elderly then juveniles. we have 11 though 3 hundred and 50 over the age of 65. the district is asian 47 percent, calling your attention is 46 percent and african-american 2 percent. and others 1.3 percent and native american less than 3 percent. those are the central district and this is the central station demographic. we have 2 asian woman officers and male officer we have 26 asian and 5 african-american and 3 latino. now seniority we have 28 percent of our staff has left in 20 years and from 20 to thirty years of serv
