>> yeah, my biggest take and congratulations to eagle fans. i was wrong. i think the biggest take away for everybody. i would say this if you are a parent out there, jalen hurts's story, bill and dana, is one of the most compelling in all of sports right now. for people who don't know, he was benched at halftime before and had to stand on the sideline and delete with that. he transferred from alabama to oklahoma. bill, two years ago we were sitting next to each other when he really outplayed in many ways patrick mahomes but his team lost. this is a perfect example of being steadfast, mentally tough, of using a downward moment in your life to build back something better, and i just think jalen hurts embodies what kids should want to aspire to do in sports. it was a big story for a long time. michael jordan getting cut from his high school basketball team helped to fuel the story of michael jordan. i would argue jalen hurts getting benched, coming back to be the mvp of the super bowl is one of the great stories in football history and up there with jordan in terms of someone being so mentally tough that they were able to handle the slings and airs owe and come back. to me that's the biggest story in addition to maybe finally the chiefs running into somebody that they couldn't win a game late against. we'll see whether the die nasty is threatened by the chiefs. right now congratulations to philly. >> dana: i look forward to seeing jesse watters at 5:00. he'll be very happy. >> is he still sober, dana? learning more about these hostages who were released, what they endured and their first moments of freedom. let's start with 56-year-old man. he was reunited with his family and wife who was a hostage and released last year. his daughters say they were shocked with how frail he was, barely recognizing him. it was a much more grim homecoming for the other two hostages. 52-year-old man came home not to find his wife and daughters waiting for him but nor him to find out they had been killed on october 7th. the same for 34-year-old. who didn't know his wife had been killed when he was taken hostage. there was this moment, the reunion with his son, his 3-year-old had been without both parents for the last 16 months. he said during this time in captivity, he had been held barefoot in a tunnel so small that he couldn't even stand. so giving insight into what he dealt with during that time. hamas paraded the hostages this weekend ahead of their release. some said they had been told repeatedly they would be released only for hope to be shattered. the fifth swap since the cease-fire began in exchange for these three israelis this weekend israel freed nearly 200 palestinian prisoners. i interviewed the brother of orr, one of the hostages released this weekend who said he would do everything he possibly could to get his brother home. he was never going to stop. the fight that so many of these other families of the hostages were willing to continue. we know an israeli delegation is in qatar to continue some of the talks to be able to continue the cease-fire. >> bill: if that was their condition you wonder how many are still alive. alex, thank you, alex hogan in london on that. >> dana: let's bring in john and rachel, their son was murdered by a hamas terrorists in captivity. they joined us before and you have an important message. let's hear from president trump. his reaction to the treatment of the hostages. >> president trump: they look like they have aged 25 years. they literally look like the old pictures of holocaust survivors. the same thing. the same thing. and i don't know how long we are going to take that. >> dana: for those of us following this story closely and you follow it more closely than anybody, that it was so shocking and so upsetting that when president trump said that it gave maybe some people a little hope that we could move this thing along because hamas is benefiting from this. being able to have all the propaganda and all the thing and the cruelty was unbelievable. rachel, let me start with you on what you think should be done next. >> well, we both feel very strongly that president trump and mr. witkoff are the most professional deal makers that could be handling this situation. and all of the people that we talk to feel grateful that they are the ones who are involved. that's why our plea on instagram saturday night after we saw the release of these emaciated holocaust-looking hostages, we said we have to expedite this deal. this deal that is currently written to stretch over the coming months. it is clear that these hostages don't have time. if these are the hostages that are coming out it means the ones who haven't yet been released are in worse condition. and so our plea and our cry and our greatest prayer is that president trump and mr. witkoff will figure out how to make this deal happen quicker, faster, more speedily. >> dana: one of the things it feels urgent. those hostages provided information back to the idf that yes indeed there are hostages there who are alive and being held in terrible conditions. >> it's true. i even want to back up for one second and say these conditions they're being held in we are learning how terrible they are. it is not totally new information. i remind you and the viewers that 163 days ago our son and five others were found bullet ridden in a tunnel with no electricity, no water, no food, no air. and our son was six feet tall and weighed 150 pounds. they were skeletal. we wrote and talked about it and we thought that maybe then that would be the trigger to get world leaders to push to action. it didn't work. thankfully right now president trump and mr. witkoff are getting things moving in the right direction and we just want it to happen faster. the people of the region need it to happen faster. >> dana: before we came on air bill hemmer asked how you are doing and rachel you said we're breathing and i'm sure that the days feel extremely long for you. there was a tweet i saw from somebody a person who i follow on x talking about the former hostage at times i said to myself you aren't getting out of there and i saw the people and you who came on the streets for us. it is what gave me the hope to go on. on occasion the hostages were able to find out that maybe catch a glimpse of the news and find out that people were fighting for them. obviously you continue to do that. if they're able to hear anything from you right now what would you like to say? >> they have got to know that every single person is fighting for them, loves them. they must stay strong. they must survive. they must come home. everyone is waiting for them and no one is giving up on them. we workday and night. every one does for them to come home. >> dana: final word to you, john. >> well, i like that the story before ours he talked about president trump and showed him saying successful bringing the country together. that's so true about israel as well and success for israel right now is bringing home 76 hostages. and so the world needs it, the families of the hostages need it. i remind the virus on fox there are six americans remaining in captivity among the 76. success is bringing is every one of them home. as many as who elected them? that's logic, that argument could be easily applied to the bureaucratic state they are defending possibly with a government shutdown. i haven't heard them grapple with that hypocrisy at all. no one has asked them. i wonder if there will be pushback from many of our colleagues in the media. so far not so much. isn't a surprise. >> dana: i read this morning in the liberal patriot. they are pretty moderate democrats saying perhaps going after elon musk all the time is not the best bet. these are voters to abc and how they support musk and trump. >> it's pretty characteristic of elon musk and i think that the whole idea of coming in and looking at government efficiency was going to be very destructive by design. immigration and safety and security and one of the things that swayed me. so i'm glad to see bold action because i think it's needed. >> i'm not entirely certain he is going about it the right way. what he is setting out to do needs to be done. >> dana: getting the same goal may not be the right way to do it, who knows, but like what they're seeing. >> they like what they are seeing. he is not touching medicare, medicaid, social security that effect all americans. he is finding common sense items like the penny. who would have thought we're watching the super bowl and trump says i have instructed the treasury secretary not to produce the penny because it costs $0.02 to produce it. if you are going to call that waste let's do it. can it be disruptive? white house press secretary, is conducting a briefing which is ongoing right now here at the white house. she confirms that the president spoke to putin earlier today. the president issued a post on social media saying that he had a very productive conversation with vladimir putin. caroline leavitt also saying that the president spoke with the ukrainian leader, volodymyr zelensky and that that conversation was productive as well. so clearly ongoing three way negotiations. now, in terms of some kind of grand deal designed to end the ukraine war, whether or not that will be successful, obviously still tbd, but the conversations have now started on a leader to leader basis from here at the whiteine leavitt also suggesting that the president is going to announce his plan for reciprocal tariffs tomorrow before the indian leader, modi, meeting here at the white house. so that is something to watch for as well. we've been getting some indication from white house officials earlier in the day that those negotiations were still going on behind the scenes, and it might not be they might not be ready yet to unveil the full slate of reciprocal tariffs this week or today or tomorrow. leavitt, though, in the briefing room just a short time ago, saying she does expect that announcement to come tomorrow. so we'll see what they're prepared to announce as of tomorrow. obviously, a whole lot of world leader calls on that front as well. kelly, kevin hassett, the national economic council director, telling me earlier today that he's been having calls with foreign leaders. the commerce secretary has been having calls with foreign leaders. all of those discussions ongoing about where those recipr
