she's in wichita, kansas. what are you watching for today? >> reporter: well right now we have the sun out here in wichita, kansas and other areas further south along the i35 corridor the sun is out across oklahoma. so the instability is building. we have that area of low pressure that we've been tracking for several days and firing up more storms into the later hours of this afternoon and through the evening and wind shear in place as well and moisture. that means these storms have the potential producing some very large hail, damaging winds and even tornadoes. now here in wichita it appears the main concern is for damaging winds and large hail. there will be severe thunderstorm watch likely issued very soon if it has not been issued already. as we head further south and east across southeastern oklahoma they are watching that area for the potential for a tornado watch to be issued. we think the wind shear is much better across southeastern oklahoma or much worse if you do not want to see a tourist out there. many people do not. we're expect

nicole: maria molina was in the middle of it all and she joins us life from wichita this morning whereshe is tracking the second round of wicked weather that now is heading her way. maria. maria: hey, good morning, good to hear your voice and hello, everybody, at home, we are tracking another round of severe weather in parts of great plains and extending to portions of arkansas and missouri. we want to share with you incredible footage, we witnessed tornado on saturday evening and it caused some damage to the north of town unfortunately and there were reports of injury, in total a dozen reported tornadoes out there across colorado as the storm system pushed through. on sunday on mother's day there were a number of tornadoes reported anywhere from nebraska, kansas and portions of oklahoma. the other threat with the storm system that it could bring large hail and damaging winds to many of these areas, unfortunately that did happen as well over the weekend with these storms, now the threat today again shifting east ward bringing storms anywhere from kansas to oklahoma and even into places

out here in wichita, kansas, we are expecting severe weather.e expecting those storms to get going in the next couple of hours, it will get dangerous in kansas, oklahoma and eventually parts of kansas. a lot of chlorring has taken place out there, but i want to show you the storm report. this is where we saw reported tornados, down from nebraska to oklahoma. they have pushed oast ward in arkansas. and behind it, we expect initiation to develop in oklahoma and kansas. it is quiet on the radar right now. but expect those storms to it fire. eastern texas, all the way up to iowa, and eastern nebraska. and so, this is a widespread strong system. the greatest risk zone is in eastern oklahoma, northeast, texas and arkansas. and we could see violent tornados and dangerous wind. we have a hatch kwhar out and looking at longer track tornados out there. and the threat continues in the night time areas and areas east of arkansas. we'll keep you updated. >> those are some of the best tornado pictures that i have ever seen. i know you took some of those. mari

. >> this morning she is live for us in wichita tracking the second round of wicked weather that is now heading their way, is that right, maria? >> why a, that's right. here in wichita, kansas we are expecting to see severe weather as we head into this afternoon and areas south and further east of our location. over the weekend the severe weather outbreak started out in colorado and across eastern colorado we saw tornadoes touchdown north of town. it brought damage through the area. we reports of injuries. eventually the storm system moved eastward and mother's day produced funnels and possible tornadoes through southern parts of february february and also a reported tornado in southwestern parts of oklahoma. a lot of activity was going. not just tornadic but reports of large hail and strong wind gusts bringing down branchs across plan knee states across parts of the plains. we are expecting to see more storms. another concern with the systems is a threat for flooding. we saw that across portions of see that on the map. future radar shows that continues through this evening. from kansas

for today, as we start the early morning hours here, wichita falls has a really nasty thunderstorm that's kind of s moving right over the top of it. we could see flash flooding problems there. also, this line, as it heads towards interstate 35 towards sulfur springs, that's where we could be watching wind damage. that's this cluster down here. there's another cluster moving through areas of south dakota, nebraska overnight that no longer looks severe. we could still see a lot of lightning strikes in the next couple hours. we're going to redo this all over again. this storm will be a slow moving one this week. oklahoma, texas, and kansas later today. this is an enhanced risk of severe storms. slight risk goes all the way to minneapolis. we could see more tornadoes, especially in the enhanced risk area. maybe one or two of those could be on the strong side later this afternoon towards this evening. that's the bad weather we'll expect late tonight and move to the i-35 corridor. i think most of the tornado threat should be more rural areas of western oklahoma and texas. that's your national w
