we talk about windchill a bit. difference between windchill and ambient temperature is a temperature you would read off your thermometer. that will go down to 25-30 below. when we talk about windchill, some places will get down to minus 60 or minus 25. windchill is where the air pulls the lair -- layer of heat from your body and the fingers, feet, hands, nose cools off rapidly. you freeze faster. if you are down to minus 35, minus 40 - it only takes less than 5 minutes to get frostbite and hypothermia later on. >> what we are looking at for the rest of the day - this is the area where we'll see cold temperatures tomorrow as well as monday. the frontal boundary that is leading the way is bringing snow across parts of illinois, indiana, ohio and michigan. where you see the purple - that could be between 18-20 inches of snow. for detroit that will cause problems. >> the highs tomorrow will be minus 20 for fargo, minus 17 more minneapolis. the overnight lows will be worse. look how long this will stay in effect. sunday

a windchill is early, and 2 in d.c.nd 5 below in martinsburg, and 2 below in gaithersburg, and so that is what we are talking about here with the cold and why we have the wind advisories and in the day tomorrow, it is between zero and t10 where the high is with the windchill around 20 degrees. and tonight, we will start to see the storm system making its way up the south, and that storm will have an impact on the area, and it will bring us some snow, and the best chances for snow, and this is late tuesday night into wednesday, and notice i-95 and a few flurries here, and a shower or two, but the best chapss are down to the south and the east, and waldorf to fredericksburg and leonardtown and you have a chance to see accumulating snow, but the good chance is salisbury over to st. mary's county, and southern calvert county, and the portions of the northern and this is an area that we will watch closely, and if it were to move up closser to d.c., we would see the accumulation closer to i-95, and this is something to watch

so many windchill advisories, not often we've seen that on the maps. the windchill advisories go all the way down as far south as naples, florida. subzero windchills in florida, it only takes, say, the teens and 20s for them to issue the advisories. in terms of windchills, still 30 to 40 below in places like chicago. even in atlanta, subzero windchills. got to believe a lot of folks staying inside. a lot of schools are canceled there. most of the cold across the great lake, the southeast, and into the northeast. even on wednesday, still chilly outside. we kick off the day with windchills in at zero in new york and pittsburgh. and boston. teens for wednesday as you wake up. wednesday afternoon, this is starting to depart. in terms of high temperature on tuesday, teens in nashville, 20s in atlanta. 40s for a good chunk of florida. even all the way to miami it will absolutely not be beach weather. then towards the end of the week, the polar vortex, a piece of it has broken off to the south. well it reconsolidates itself across the poles. and the cold air
