winston-salem was begun in 1766. and north-south action is which is the action is on which the grid was laid for salem and winston. but on the square here, we can begin to see the architecture. the architecture is unparalleled. nd we can look at the earliest manifestation, this timber building which is 250 years old, one of the oldest building in salem and when you look at this building, you can understand the origins. the moravians came from what they knew in central europe. they are building, people who built this building were mostly born in europe. the early architecture reflects this n salem you will see all the way through tore popular style and main hall that is also here on this square. the square is a wonderful place to look at various styles. the early building and then the church, which was built in 1800 by marshal who designed many of the buildings, you can see by 1800, the moravians have left behind these traditions and see more the more english influence on the church. this is something that is remarkab
