city hall. other people have been wondering for months why the owner of that big bakery wasn't charged. well, now he is. businessman and councilwoman indicted in corruption at city hall. a $12500 political survey for holton's reelection. it was funded in part by this check after a meeting. the two had joint developments such as this ground breaking as prosecutors said seeking tax breaks could be a motive. holton spoke us to us about the investigation last month. >> i think it was a mishap. it's like, look at what we found. we can make something of nothing. >> reporter: legal experts speculate on the prosecutor's second attempt. >> i think i have to from a reputation standpoint salvage something, and they have done that. >> reporter: he's agreed to testify against holton and dixon. they had no idea about the inindictment until we provided them with a copy. the mayor has no comment and her attorney is out of town. dixon is still accused of stealing gift cards meant for needy children. >> i have done so many initiatives and efforts where we work with the needy. so, you know, i was very both

to highlight in particular the military construction dollars for fort carson which is in the wonderful city of colorado springs in the county of el paso. millions of dollars have been allocateed to fort carson for military construction projects to prepare to expand the post so it can house a 47th brigade combat team and millions more in the pipeline for the fiscal year 2010. the future of that funding was put in doubt when secretary gates announced the army would not put a new brigade combat team at fort carson. mr. president, i remain disappointed that that brigade will not be coming to fort carson, at least in the near future, but i understand secretary gates' concern that we need to fill out the brigades we have, expand the amount of time service members have between deployments and meet readiness requirements before we complete new brigades. still, i want to ensure that fort carson and the colorado springs community are not punished because of the army's decision. many of the soldiers at fort carson live and work in substandard buildings. they still need new baracks and mess halls, vehi

that leaves many wondering where is the new information coming from. jennifer franciotti joins us live from outside city hall with the latest. >> good morning. in the time since some of the previous charges were dropped her ex-boyfriend cut a plea deal and it is speculated some of the new information is coming from him. the indictment gives very specific details concerning items developer ron lipscomb gave to dixon when they were dating from fur coats to thousands of dollars in cash. we asked the mayor if she was concerned that lipscomb, who cut a deal with prosecutors, may have provided prosecutors with this information. >> do you feel any different this time around considering the circumstances and where the prosecution supposedly is getting the information from? >> i feel no different. again, i'm just staying focused. >> the indictment says dixon never reported the gifts that lipscomb gave to her in ethics filings because it says lipscomb was doing business with the city at the time. the new indictment like the old one claims that the mayor stole gift cards meant for poor families. >> do you feel you

the other night i went to the annual fundraiser of the new york city food bank. it's wonderful. they are terrific. and they were honoring my friend jon bon jovi, who's a very good citizen and always does for us up there. so i went by and tried to support them. because food bank has lost quite a bit of money. as you might imagine, because of the collapse of so many wall street institutions, financial efforts. and they feed a huge number of people, our food bank does, every year. so they were saying, you know, we might have a million more people in new york city this year who are short of food because of this economic collapse. and the ultimate irony of that struck me because we also have more people who are at risk of childhood obesity in new york city. how can that be? because of the way instability and inequality play out in modern society. the children most at risk of being hungry are just on the utter side of a knife edge of those most at risk of obesity. the people most at risk of obesity are those who are the non-rich in a rich society who have enough opportunity and a chur
