so through a working group, they come up with different signs we need to put at the stations to let them know what is available. we're working with some of the technology, we're actually right now piloting on -- every officer has a samsung cell phone, and it has an app on it, where they'll be able to do video. so someone that is signing can look at this and then the person can talk to the officer. so we're piloting that right now. and then the education, all those myths, we have to get that out of the way. and we hope to do that by way of video. so the video will be like a longer video talking about myths and all the things about how you deal with everyone. and then we'll cut that video into pieces and it will be distributed on a regular basis during lineups at each of the stations. they'll clip those and have a conversation about it. and our language access officer will be there to answer questions and give quick scenarios and hopefully we'll bring people from the communities to give those snips. it will be have to be incorporated in the report writing, because it's a different techniqu

, i don't want to say a working group. working groups are overused, but they should really use the ability for people in the community to give feedback. the p.i.m. is offline on weekends occasionally for upgrading and things like that, and the faster the projects move through without the ability to get documents from the -- get applications. the planning department staff people all the time send me, when i request an application, they say they have a standard language saying look to the p.i.m. the p.i.m. is not the answer. when you want to have an application and forwarded to people in the neighborhood to understand what the project is. the application is really important. not go to the p.i.m., which is what the staff default is. so i'm asking people to be involved with the real world, you're the representatives of the public, and they should be the representatives of the public, as well. the public is having problems getting documents. thank you. >> president melgar: thank you, ms. hester. any other public comment on this

what has really bothered me, they decide which organizations can be part of the various working groups. and sometimes organizations that i think are very important that should have a voice have not been able to sit on some of these working groups. when you have a member from the board of supervisors, member from the executive board, it brings ideas, it flags community members that should be a part of this moving forward. i think what is going on tonight is to practice exclusion. i don't know why. i think it's a bad way to start the year. it brings a lot of bad blood and is going to be difficult to work with a commission that has a power grab and just to assume and control the agenda, the committees, the working groups and to really stifle the voice of the board of supervisors' members. i think it's really wrong. before we make any decisions we should talk about how we want to structure this board and why do we want to share this leadership and not give a voice to the people who deserve a voice in community, in our different communities. i think that's a way to continue to establish tru

i know that the age and disability friendly work group is working extensively with you and it's encouraging that daas is very much in support of what you're doing. quite impressive that you've got five -- you had five focus groups talking to the disabled leaders in the city, that is all great. just two quick comments. one of the passions that i have centers around service animals, because i do have a guide dog. so i would recommend that as you go forward, you include a discussion with people who have guide dogs or disabled folks that have service animals, because that's a very, very important part of the disabled culture and arena. the other thing i just wanted to touch on lightly. i know funding is ultimately going to be a real important aspect of this. yes, i know you're in the very beginning stages. you know, you've got to put our report out first and then there is a whole lot of other things to do, have a steering committee and so forth. have you given some thought to how beginning funding would come for this? or are we talking stages? would daas play a major part? can you elaborate a l
