yee. i made some of these points at the budget committee when this came before us. and this issue, i think is hard for all of us, because i think we all care about and love city college. our constituents all care about and love city college and we want to support its success. i spent six years on the city college board of trustees. i fought to save its accreditation. i believe supervisor stefani was -- because city college never lost its accreditation, but came darned close. we came darned close for reasons that persist today. city college's finances have not made sense for going on a decade now. and although, in 2012 and 2013, 2014, i believe it was wrong for the accrediter to try to terminate the accreditation, the idea that city college does not need to balance its books, is wrong. and is a problem and a harm for the college. city college is among the best funded community colleges in california. correctly so and receives a level of funding from the local community that i don't think an
