( laughter ) >> that's a challenge. >> stephen: that is, yeah. >> so, we had rapid recovery from the pandemic. when president biden was elected, unemployment was quite high. it was close to 7%. and we put policies in place that generated a very rapid recovery. unemployment quickly fell back into the threes. >> stephen: what is it now? what is it now? >> 3.7. so normally you wouldn't expect, just because you had a rapid recovery, for inflation to rise very much, if at all. but it turned out the pandemic had very special impacts on the economy.

janet yellen says cpi is coming lower, so we do not need to worry about inflation. and we do not need to worry about the fed. we know it is going to give us 50 basis points in terms of a hike, then an economic forecast and summary of protections, etc., which are going to be wrong. they are economic forecasts. a be we do not need to worry. your thoughts? mike: the only reason you would worry about cpi's if it came with some sort of very big surprise. that would change the fed calculation going forward, that has an effect on earnings. i would not disagree with mike wilson. i do not think the fed matters in terms of what they are doing on wednesday, so much as the new economic forecast. if a fed starts to forecast recession ahead -- remember, last meeting showed the staff thought there was a 50-50 chance of recession. that is going to have an effect on what analysts are writing down for earnings estimates. the same thing is true if they see the fed having to raise rates further. i think there is a portion of this meeting that is going to matter to wall street, but the
