abc seven news south bay reporter zach fuentes will have much more on this starting on abc seven newst five. >> some of the world's best gymnasts are on their way to san jose. >> the 2023 us gymnastics championship begin thursday at the sap center. nearly 150 men and women gymnasts have qualified to compete and together they've won 12 olympic medals. 50 world champions medals and 46 national titles. so this is a big deal for the city of san jose. besides the competition, there will be a trade show and a usa gymnastics hall of fame ceremony that should draw crowds downtown trying to keep the energy rolling. >> you know, we had the san jose jazz festival last week, which is just spectacular. downtown was so exciting, so vibrant. and then this is just roll into it. remember we have over 2000 people attending the national congress and they're attending that thursday, friday, saturday, sunday. >> and there's a lot riding in this competition or on it. the top women and men, gymnasts will win a spot on the us national team. now this is not going to be the official olympic roster, but it will
