maybe they watched these court proceedings on television, surrounded by family and friends, zoraida sambolin joins us from cleveland. and she has the story of a guess of a number of emotional homecomings. >> oh, yeah. total happiness in cleveland yesterday. as we are hearing the horrific details and we know these girls have to be surrounded by love and a lot of support, it was really nice to see this homecoming, because that is exactly what they are going to have. after more than a decade of captivity, home at last. an entire neighborhood showed out to support gina dejesus. held captive in the same boarded up house as amanda berry and michele knight. shielded by a family member, gina give a thumbs up to the crowd. she was finally free. her father, overjoyed, greeted with high fives and lots of hugs. her mother said she never gave up hope. >> even the ones that doubted, i still want to thank them the most. because they are the ones that made me stronger, the one that made me feel the most that my daughter was out there. >> reporter: blocks away, neighbors, family and friends welcomed another

our friend and colleague zoraida sambolin about to undergo a double mastectomy. first, thank you for sharing your story. >> i was trying to figure out, carol, how do i tell the viewers i'll be gone for a while, how do i talk about my breast cancer and double mastectomy, and we walked in, and this is a good entree. i was grateful for angelina jolie. >> doctors have detected cancer in one breast. why did you decide to have both breasts removed? >> it's a really long and complicated story. but the bottom line is that there is one area that was diagnosed on the left and when i had an mri, another area and then they found that my right breast also, you know, had some issues and they were uncertain exactly what it was. and they wanted to go in and do a bunch of biopsies and i've been through this a lot recently and i said, look, at the end of the day, i need to have peace of mind and sleep at night. i have two kids that are my world. like any woman, right? and it's what you think about. i thought for me this would be the best decision moving forward so that i could fee

. >>> welcome back to "starting point" i'm zoraida sambolin. >> i'm christine romans. following breaking news from cleveland this morning. three women missing for a decade, presumed dead, found alive, and three brothers suspected of kidnapping them holding them captive are behind bars this morning. cnn's martin savidge is live in cleveland. what do we know about these brothers, martin? >> that's a good question and one that authorities are investigating right now. we know that one of them has been identified by cleveland city councilman. his name is ariel castro and he is believed to be the owner of the home, the white frame one with the american flag there where the three women were held. if you look closely at the bottom of the door, that's the screen door, you can see the section that amanda berry allegedly kicked out yesterday. and it's also where charles ramsey came into play. he was the neighbor that heard the screams, knew she was in trouble, and responded. here's what he had to say. >> her screaming, eating my mcdonald's, i come outside. i see this girl going n
