When checking out items from the library, I consistently run in to the below error:

Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem: E_ADEPT_DOCUMENT_TOO_SHORT:

I see this problem a moment ago with the book https://archive.org/details/favoriteanimalsi00mont. This book is can be seen on my loans.

I saw the same problem 2-3 days ago with a few other 14-day borrowable books from this series .

For your kind information, I use Adobe Digital Edition 2.0. I have verified that there is no issue with my installation of Adobe Digital Edition by checking out some ebooks from my local library.

Back story ....

Michael Lafosse's books here are recommended as particularly good for introducing origami to kids. See https://www.origami-resource-center.com/kids-guide-to-origami.html

My local library doesn't own a copy of the books, and I was happy to see these books in archive.org. 1 hour borrow is too short, and reading from browser is cumbersome particularly when working with a small child.

I hope the above check-out issues are technical issues that could be sorted out.

I am having the same problem with https://archive.org/details/triplehelix00rich/mode/2up
I have tried getting rid of cookies and restarting my browser with no success.
I can access ebooks from my library
I am running Adobe Digital Editions 2.0 with wine on an Ubuntu 20.04 PC.

I have just tried with two books I was able to borrow a few months ago with no problem (same computer, same ADE) and now I get the same error message. Has archive.org changed something about their book server since August?

I have found a solution to access the .epub books on my PC's Adobe Digital Editions (so I can read them on my ereader). It is from https://community.adobe.com/t5/digital-editions-discussions/e-adept-document-too-short/m-p/8749953

- Install Adobe Digital Editions on an android device
- check out book on archive.org
- download .acsm on android and open in Adobe Digital Editions on android
- connect phone to computer
- From Internal shared storage -> Digital Editions, copy the .acsm and the .epub to My Digital Editions on PC
- run Adobe Digital Editions on PC
- add book to library and select .epub from My Digital Editions directory

This is the same what happen with me. I don't know why?
Error message: E_ADEPT_NO_TOKEN
I have never downloaded the book which I borrowed to my digital. Two days I tried to get the file but the error was still on progress.
Firstly the message error was : Error getting license , license server communication problem : ELC_LICENSE_SIGN_ERROR then I thought the link of downloading was broken so I for the second time downloaded the link , but it became worse as (( E_ADEPT_NO_TOKEN )) ?? It is not my reason ... I never did a mistake and hardly will do and it is my right to tell it openly. This Repot likely wanted to make me a traitor and I will never agree to have a notorious reputation

After making the above post, I realized that there are numerous reports about downloading Adobe PDFs. And on these reports, the suggested solution was to delete the cookies.

So, I deleted the cookies for archive.org & openlibrary.org. I signed-in afresh. Downloaded the *.acsm file, and added it to my ADE 2.0.

I continue to see the above error.

Just FYI, there is one another report of similar nature. See the comment at the end of this page https://archive.org/details/universityofchic00jere

Note that it is reported by someone else on some other book, but within the last month. So, I am not the lone one seeing this problem.

I am attaching the license file ... I have also returned the book so that someone else can borrow the book and see if they run in to the same error as I reported with this book.
