I have noticed that there is a distortion of speed and pitch in many (most?) files digitized from film originals. It is very noticeable--I find it intolerable--if there is music, and less noticeable in speech and moving image. The pitch/speed cycle up and down about once every second or two.

I have tried alternate browsers, different computers, and playing downloaded video with VLC and other media player software. I don't find any discussion of this effect elsewhere. I imagine it is caused by maladjustment of the film projector or capture equipment, but I'm not sure. I can't be the only one to notice this, and it seems like a major problem affecting a large percentage of the videos on this platform.

Please post at least one link to an example of the speed/pitch issue.

I didn't think about that, mostly because the problem is so common that I thought everyone would have noticed!

Here are some examples:

These are typical of poorly transferred optical tracks and there is not much any player can do to correct. Only option would be to download and adjust/filter through a professional solution like Autition or Premier Pro or some of the free solutions available online
