once you get to donner and kirkwood you're met with that snow. in the bay area we have our own precipitation, tracking heavy snow pushing into parts of near beach, san francisco already seen it, we continue to see light rain up into parts of nevada, petaluma. as we move into the east bay delta concord, danville and even out toward the drive, some of that rain. to be careful as you head out for an evening plans. already moderate activity from santa cruz into parts of the subbasin up into palo alto. we see the rain and it will continue as we go into tonight so don't let your guard down even if you see a chance of a clearing. we are tracking more rain, especially in the overnight hours and be prepared for it. right there through the county and through the santa cruz mountains and it will be gusty so prepare for situations like this with brief breaks of the rain and another break right there on sunday morning to gather yourself and get ready for another round of rain. we will tap into an atmospheric river action as we line up at 6:00 tomorrow evening

so, we were just looking at pictures up there, already a slow drive on donner pass, the real event is tomorrow. this is all that falls tomorrow. wednesday is a very unpleasant day if you plan on being in the sierra. if you can put and travel plans off to thursday you will be very happy that you did. about a foot and a half of snow. we had way worse than that last winter, this is as big as either of the two that came through last week and they made headlines for travel headaches and nightmares up there. the snow level is getting low. great news for the snowpack but not good news if you need to drive. it means rain here at home. just like the last couple of storms not super impressive rain. these storms are good at making snow. look at tomorrow, 2:00 in the afternoon, a lot going on in the sierra not as much happening here. let's go in for a closer look and watch it on high-resolution to time-out the rain. some of the leading-edge showers in the morning, a good example, 7:00 a.m., showers march along the bay. the realtime, more likely to notice this, it is going to be in the afternoon.

we get another 3 to 6 inches on donner pass between now and midnight. look at tomorrow, because when we get to tomorrow, we are going to be done with the rain, but there is one item left over for tomorrow. in addition to daytime highs in the afternoon, which are pretty much 60 degrees, the one thing to keep in mind about wednesday morning, primarily a concern for the northbay is, it will probably get a bit foggy. patchy fog up there, just like the wind and flooding concerns, there is no dense fog advisory issued. i don't think it will be that widespread tomorrow. with the amount of rain we are getting, some of those northbay valleys usually do a good job of holding on to the moisture in the air and you can probably develop fog that way. >>> let's get into the forecast, now, in terms of the next system coming our way. these are a bigger issue than today. the rain coming our way on friday is going to be bigger rainfall totals than today, and the same story coming in with the next system afterwards on sunday. watching it on big picture you can see how they
