but the reality is we as an agency need to have a specific amount of revenue to be able to operate and maintain our system to the highest quality. then we don't become flint, michigan, and jackson, mississippi, right? so that is why we actually need to focus on the rate setting process. and actually that goes back to while i have you here. also, the wastewater for, uh, it really worries me. it is a worrisome situation. it is a it's very much tied to water use. the way we build for wastewater. right so if people are using their water use is reducing their water use, they're they are in a way indirectly reducing their wastewater bill. right so and we are actually going to have this huge, uh, debt in our wastewater side, which has to be repaid. so so somehow somewhere people have to pay for this, right? so if we are more strategic about how we do this, we potentially can do it in a better way and cost, make sure we are recovering the cost, but also keeping people on the right plan rather than just you know, uh, changing things abruptly or not being able to manage it in a few years. so aga

so partnering parking and traffic has revenues have gone down right. like people are not or yes relative to inflation. right. so our costs rise every year with the cost of labor. you know, our budget is over overwhelmingly muni drivers and mechanics and you know, people delivering services and their wages rise with the cost of living every year. but our revenues have basically been flat or in some cases declining in real dollars. so the ridership is not helping gain in like we're not seeing the gains in ridership that we need in order to offset the loss in parking and traffic. that's right. and we're also because of our equity values doing things like free muni for low income seniors, free muni for all youth, deeply discounts, transit fares for low income folks, measures that we feel are very important, but ultimately impact our bottom line. and our ability to sustain the service. um this is a side note, but like, is there a tourist pass? is there like a 5 or 7? yeah. so again, muni mobile is your friend and download it. we have a new app and on there
