causing major problems.d morning, rob. >> reporter: good morning, gio. the rain may have shifted south but the water keeps coming here in the santa barbara coast line. look at this wave action we've got. eight to ten foot waves continually pounding on this beach, eating away at the sand. at the same time, the runoff from all the rain has been pouring out trying to get dumped into the ocean. we have all sorts of debris, erosion. everything has been put to the test with this wave action. this isn't the only spot. coastal flood advisory, heavy surf from san francisco to san diego which will extend through today, if not in some spots through tomorrow. the airport, santa barbara airport, was shut down yesterday. commercial flights have all been cancelled because of high water. hopefully, they'll reopen later on today. we got half a foot of rain in some of the mountainous areas. some of the burn scar areas have been evacuated, have not slid. we're hoping no more land slides with the next match of rain coming. lins

so let's zoom back in and let's talk about the the rain because yesterday, we had major, major stormsg communities like santa rosa and san francisco too. but we're waking up with a lot lighter conditions this morning. light drizzle to the north bay right now and will continue to watch that sweep to the east throughout the next couple of hours. for the most part, we can see anywhere up to around 0.1 of rain up in the north bay and around 5:00 p.m. and then it continues to dry up as we head into overnight hours tonight. leaving us with drier conditions throughout the roast of this week but this whole storm, the whole mass of it since this weekend, we've seen over 3 inches of rainfall in communities like san rafael and over 2 inches in san francisco. which about an inch and a half of that was just from yesterday alone. and pretty impressive numbers down near san jose getting close to an inch. now it does dry up as we head into the next couple of days and that's great news. we need that dry break and then we see a light chance of showers return into the forecast early next week but that w
