upper 50s for oakland and along the coast and middle 50s for the cooler locations in the north bay valleys dropping down to 54 degrees. that will be a cool spot on the map by tomorrow morning, there are tomorrows that will bounce back to what is normal for this time of the year. slightly warmer today. a mix of 60s and 70s around the bay. down the peninsula with the temperatures near the 80 degrees, a mix of 70s and 80s in the north bay. the farther inland you go. the temperatures get hotter in the upper 80s in fairfield and brentwood. a couple spots, tomorrow, high temperature 82 degrees, several degrees below average. then we climb to several degrees above average. not to return to the crazy heat. upper 90s, maybe close to 100 degrees, that is not well into the lower 100s like we had earlier this month. so, kind of typical late july and early august heat. above average temperatures but not that far above normal and not record setting the way things look right now. check out the seven-day forecast, there is the return for highs on wednesday. that is an average, inland, mix of 80s and 90s.

low 50s in san francisco and some of the coolest spots in the north bay valleys. the first time in a while that we have some 40s on the map. petaluma dipping down to 48 degrees, right at 50 degrees for a low temperature tomorrow morning around santa rosa. temperatures tomorrow are going to warm up, but it will be more of a leisurely warm-up. we end up anywhere from a couple degrees, up to 6 degrees below normal. mid-70s down the peninsula, or temperatures in the santa clara valley topping out around 80 degrees in san jose, lower middle 80s east of oakland hills. 20 degrees cooler than where you were on tuesday. talking about eight big improvement and temperatures. the cooldown will continue into the weekend. a big weekend by the nhra sonoma nationals, temperatures in the upper 70s for highs. really nice weather, not feeling much like july at all except along the coast where you are used to temperatures feeling like july in the low 60s. that is where we are going to be once again as we enter stern grove weekend. another sunday concert series later in august, that s

but inland, you can see san jose and out towards the inland tri-valley and north bay valley, stayingabove 100 degrees. and here's the problem a high pressure system that's as strong as we typically see in the desert. southwest is parked across northern california and it's not going anywhere. as we head into the weekend, saturday and sunday, still anchored into our north, may not be till about tuesday of next week before those temperatures start to level off. hayward and the inner bay should see mid 80s for the weekend, but as you move farther inland, it may take longer for san jose to break out of those mid 90s and 100 degree temperatures may not happen until the end of the weekend. and look at this screen. livermore could be near 100 degrees and higher. all the way through next monday. so there you go. we got the heat rolling in, and fortunately for a lot of outdoor plans, 4th of july, you're going to want to stay hydrated and try to keep cool as those 100 degree temperatures across the board there now into and through the weekend. so the heat advisories, bayside excessive heat warn

north bay valleys got quite the break today. santa rosa, last look on today santa rosa did not break the century mark. you were in the low and mid-90s. look at the gap in the hills above point reyes. the cool air was able to filter through that low spot there and get into that part of sonoma county and do a big favor. it was still hot there, still low to mid-90s, but it could have been a lot hotter. all these subtle little microclimates start to come into play on a day like this. let's get into the seven-day forecast and break this down. by sunday we've got you down to the mid-90s, but then you'll stay there going into early next week. these numbers are now riding on the line where maybe they can let the excessive heat warning expire by the time we get to tuesday, but there's really more meaningful relief once we get towards next saturday. there is a better forecast at the end of the seven-day, but really through the remainder of this seven-day even though there's improvement and the temperatures will come down, you still have t

it's also going to be really hot for those north bay valleys and then for san jose. we're going back to the 90s on wednesday. while morgan hill is going to see those temperatures over 100 degrees, and we are going to see that heat peaking on thursday. but then once the heat backs off, the humidity will be coming in with a surge of some monsoon moisture moving in, especially for southern california into the sierra for the weekend. when we see the high amounts of moisture that could mean some thunderstorms or some lightning, so that could increase the fire danger for the weekend. so we'll be watching that closely. the peak of the heat will be hitting the inland areas on thursday. so every day between now and then we're just going to see those temperatures going up a few degrees and then back down for the weekend. but it doesn't look like it's going to be as hot in san francisco. we're going to be in the low 80s on thursday, but other than that, it's in the 60s and 70s throughout the week. mike, you're seeing a build now in the south bay. it's more subtle than we often

north bay valley warmed up a little bit. yesterday was really the day that stood out.these numbers are 10-15 degrees warmer already. we don't change a lot tomorrow. you will see in the forecast, we are going to continue the warming trend. by the end of the week there are day time highs for the inland valleys, we will get there in just one second. i want to take a moment and show you where the smoke is coming from. we had a lot of coverage on the park fire. how quickly it spread, how enormous it is. i want you to see the perspective. this is infrared. that is the burn scar of the fire. on the leading edge you can see the plume of smoke that is going the other way. you can see the depiction of where the frontlines of the flames are. all of that stuff is continuing to burn off through the northeast. we did a lot of analysis on that. i will tell you from that point on there is a lot of patchwork on logging out there. clear cut squares. you know what they look like. that stuff is flammable. not a lot of urbanization there. that is relatively good news. there is a lot of roo

bay valleys, places like novato and parts of santa rosa, inland areas, concord, livermore valley andnta clara valley. and this is for temperatures. it'll get into the 90s in some of the hottest spots in my mind, this heat advisory is right on the edge of not being a heat advisory. it's a low grade heat advisory. the last time we saw one of these, it wasn't low grade. it was a code red kind of a thing. this is like, yeah, i get why they did it, but it's not going to be. i don't think you're going to be put out too much by it. but still it bears, you know, as you see the temperatures come up tomorrow, my like my friends in santa rosa or in concord, you're used to 96 degrees or 98 degrees or even 100 degrees. but it does remind you when you see the heat advisory go, hey, you know, maybe make sure the dog has plenty of water. make sure the kids, you know, all that stuff. so this is a good reminder. but again, the temperatures today a little warmer. you can see the inland valley already 91 degrees in brentwood today, 12 degrees warmer in concord than it was yesterday. at this time, the lo

, santa clara valley and inland mountains of the north bay, the peak of the heat today but it's still going to be hot tomorrow with this heat dome locked in place. the heat is exceptional now. let's look at our current temperatures and those are still running in triple digits across many inland parts of the bay area. here are the current numbers. it is above 100 degrees right now in healdsburg, close to 100 degrees in santa rosa. look out towards the coast and it's in the 60s in bodega bay. temperatures are especially hot in fairfield at 110 degrees and close to that level for concord and antioch and the reduction, 88 oakland, 73 degrees in san francisco, 60 degrees in pacifica, a 40-degree temperature difference from the coast to far inland, 90s in san jose and above 100 degrees in los gatos and morgan hill. temperatures gradually cool off through the rest of tonight. some fog will try to develop and be confined to right along the coast, a little trying to sneak through the golden gate but sneaks back towards the coast rapidly tomorrow. midmorning tomorrow the full pulls away from th

north bay and santa clara valley with reasonable temperatures heading into the weekend. if you're heading out to the giants game as they take on my minnesota twins, first time i've lived here the twins are in town, temperatures in the low 60s, coasting down as the fog spreads out and across the bay or trying to. let's look at that fog and simulate how it will behave on our floor map. we'll see the fog trying to develop along the coast and poke through the golden gate it. doesn't make much progress across the bay and into the inland valley by early tomorrow morning. frozen the map midmorning saturday with a little clearing along the coast. you'll see some sunshine, but not a lot of sunshine by the second half of the weekend. the fog will be able to spread much farther into the inland valleys beginning sunday morning. that's the case through most of next week. let's get rid of the clouds and talk about temperatures through the rest of tonight which will drop down. it's going to be warm in some of the spots that were milder today, mid-60s for san jose and los gatos, low 60s

and in the valleys of the north bay, dipping down to the middle portion of the 50s there and then highs are going to warm up. except right along the coast, mid upper 60s for pacifica, half moon bay, mostly low 90s down the peninsula with mid to upper 90s and a few low 1 hundreds as you go farther inland in the santa clara valley. to around 102 degrees around morgan hill. has been the case today and yesterday, the hottest spots will be inland in the east bay, the tri valley around 100 degrees trying to 105 degrees for the hottest locations in your antioch and brentwood. around the bay. it'll be warm, but not that hot, low 70s in san francisco right around 80 oakland, taking a little step temperatures. in the north bay a lot of 90s on the map there with more locations getting up to around or above 100 degrees as you head farther north. especially around ukiah and clear lake all the way up to about 110 degrees, so make sure you're taking those hot weather precautions. we are far from alone in this. this is the heat dome that has been just camped out over the southwestern u. s. it is going

that's the north bay, the east bay, the santa clara valley streaming all the way into the big sur areacase you were thinking about heading there for a little bit of relief. oh no. right now we have temperatures in the 90s in our inland areas in the east bay. livermore 91, 95 and walnut creek streaming all the way into blackhawk and to alamo. it's 95 in travis and in fairfield, also mid 90s in brentwood. tracy and also the byron area, as well as discovery bay. we have mid 80s being reported to high 80s and throughout the north bay. our live weather camera. we did see that little stream of fog trying to form there near the golden gate bridge that has been wiped away. otherwise, some moderate air quality in our inland areas. the winds are under ten will increase later today, about 10 to 15 as the sun begins to set. otherwise they are gentle and that's allowing some of the haze to work. its way into the bay area. this is why the bay area air quality district has issued an air quality advisory for today. i wouldn't be surprised if it's in effect for tomorrow morning as we see that plume wor
