a man known as the pirate of morgan hill has passed away at the age of 64. rich ferrato was known for creating his very own pirate paradise right there in his backyard, right off morgan avenue and hill road. ferrato spent more than two decades transforming his home, complete with shipwreck scenes, treasure chests, even a pirate ship. inspired to create these things with members of his community, ferrato opened his home up to free tours and just this year started welcoming in school groups for field trips, where they learned morgan hill history and local geology. our garvin thomas interviewed him earlier this year for our bay area proud series. people just become happy, they become free and they can dream. they could pretend they're pirates. who doesn't like pirates? i've been blessed to have built it, but the value is to share it. the mayor of morgan hill, mark turner, released a statement saying rich was indeed larger than life. he was kind and generous and always willing to help. his passing leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of so many. thank you to t

so trending warmer for morgan hill southward out towards the tri-valley and the north bay. and now tuesday the maps turning orange again. we've got those mid 90s showing up in concord and walnut creek seconds into morgan hill and san martin southward and seconds around santa rosa. but then the temperatures do start to cool down. as we get into wednesday and thursday. the winds are going to pick up and we're going to see more clouds and look at this thursday into friday showers returning to parts of northern california. it's another area of low pressure dropping down from the pacific northwest that by thursday night and friday brings a chance of a few showers. then, as we head towards the weekend, the low scoots out. high pressure starts to build in, which will lead to some breezy, drier and warming temperatures. we think as we move forward into next weekend. so san francisco briefly getting close to the low 70s there on tuesday, then likely heading back into the 70s next weekend and you'll see after that chance of showers friday, we'll have to watch the wind. this could be

mid to upper 90s will be possible around morgan hill. areas around the almaden valley, los gatos and saratoga. mid 90s low 90s again around san jose from the tri valley up towards concord and walnut creek, and alamo. you're looking at upper 90s tomorrow, but staying in the low 80s closer to oakland, redwood city, upper 80s tomorrow, and san francisco downtown in the mid 70s. out by the outer sunset numbers closer to the upper 60s and north bay temperatures again tomorrow should see low to mid 90s. now that is tuesday. wednesday not much change in those temperatures. we're still seeing a chance of those mid to upper 90s inland, but eventually the sea breeze starts to pick up. look at our bayside temperatures starting to cool down now into the low 70s near san francisco. and by friday now our inland valleys closer to the averages upper 80s to low 90s. so just in time for labor day weekend, we'll see another area of low pressure on approach that will start to bring up that sea breeze. drop down those temperatures for the holiday weekend. so

in the south bay temperatures top out in the low to mid-90s, up to around 100 degrees for morgan hill tomorrow afternoon. if you're looking for relief from the heat, there is good news in the extended range forecast. let's look at the eight to 14-day outlook and the signal towards warmer than normal temperatures gets nudged farther east while for much of california there is a signal towards cooler than average temperatures kicking in past the midpoint of august. you don't have to deal with the extreme heat more than one day tomorrow. it looks like we should see some relief from that by the time the middle of month the rolls around. let's check out the seven-day forecast which does include temperatures spiking tomorrow and backing down, inland temperatures low 80s by monday. that's some definite relief from the heat in the middle of august. the rest of this week is going to be warm, if not hot inland, around the bay 70s and low to mid-70s, down to the upper 60s monday next week while temperatures along the coast, hardly any change both in temperatures and what the skies look like. it's

this area here from san jose south into morgan hill and gilroy.e's actually a heat advisory in effect for those folks for the day tomorrow. it's a one and done, though it's not a bunch of days in a row of heat. it's a one and done. what you notice here is angel island, certainly little smoky atmosphere, a little hazy. you probably notice there's no fog there. you think it makes sense? it's going to be hotter tomorrow, but the fog kind of went away today. fog is actually going to come back tonight and in some iteration, but it's not going to have a huge push inland. it'll get to berkeley in oakland it might even get a little further than that. it'll burn back quickly, but the seabreeze will continue to exist throughout the day tomorrow. so in terms of the big heat, it's not going to be sausalito or san rafael or san francisco. it's going because there's going to be a little bit of a sea breeze there. but inland over the east bay hills, south down to san jose, north up towards santa rosa, where the sea breeze can't get, it's going to be pretty warm.
