ledge, raised all of the funds to build the eco center and developed a plan, and constructed the eco center, and has owned and operated the eco center since it opened in 2010. ledge, leases the footprint of land, that the eco center sits on from the port and has an affiliated license for the surrounding outdoor area. in the past several years, ledge has suffered some financial and organizational set backs. and now, finds itself, unable to continue operating, maintaining and programming the eco center. and has approached the port seeking to terminate its lease. and i intend to come back to you at your next meeting, and with proposed terms for a mutual termination agreement for the lease. >> the eco center, however, offers a great opportunity to serve the community as an education alpha celebrity and demonstration of green building technologies. and it provides a home base for the ports environmental education programs *, and it compliments the instructions that those programs provide through the port's partnership with the department of recreation and parks, youth stewardship program

we've accelerated this with the eco project. people looking for frontiers have been flocking to this city and the increased density we've been growing. the streets and cafes and the nights spots and a new architecture style as an architect i call integrated will reach it's pinnacle we've created a modern era. the central district is a clotted loop for wait water and energy lou gehrig's disease for integration together our community has built a cultural diverse neighborhood where people want to be. that's our vision were what i read can become a reality we must reserve this for the end game. the first steps have been taken and now we have to consider how to expand for the eco district. all eyes are literally on this area and san francisco has an opportunity to showcase this in the heart of our great city. commissioners i've worked on green buildings including any buildings that are net zero incur awhile transformational those are green buildings and eco building are a big step towards making enlightenment think development normal

l 13816 eco center. resolution authorizing the mutual termination agreement between the port and literacy for environmental justice for lease. >> we have carol here to speak. >> good afternoon, this is regarding the termination of the ports lease with literacy and environmental justice also known as ledge. the lease is a small eco center at the heron's head park for land in 1998. it was awarded a 10-year lease for 2300 square foot of unimproved land for the eco center. that ran from 2007 to december 2017. design and funds constructed the eco center completed in 2010. ledges lease included rent to 2500 in rent andesite preparation cost. at completion of the construction, the value of the prepping cost exceeded the total amount of rent that would have been paid to the port over the 10-year term of the lease. the eco center never generated any center for the court nor was it anticipated to. as for staffing and any other organizational changes at led, let seeks to focus it's operations and vacant the eco cen

this is what the eco-center look like shortly after it was constructed. it has 100% solar power; it has a living roof, meeting the roof is vegetated and provides habitat itself. rainwater on the roof is captured and reused for irrigation. and one of the truly unique things about the eco-center at heron's head if it has an on-site wastewater treatment system so the sinks and toilets the wastewater is treated on a series of tanks through settlement and sedimentation; you can see on the left portion this mini aquatic habitat for aquatic organisms and plants complete that process. the effluent from this wastewater treatment system meets epa water quality standards for recreational contact, meaning you could swim or kayak in it. you wouldn't but you could. it really mimics the wastewater treatment processes happening naturally just right outside this windows. you can see that treating your wastewater in your building -- it's a great educational tool to teach students and youth and adults alike about the value of wetlands and the role and water treatment. recen
