let's get to meteorologist sandhya patel with what we can expect the rest of the evening. sandhya? >> off-and-on showers. you saw sun in the emeryville camera. we are seeing sunshine along with clouds. take a look at live doppler 7. we'll show you where the focus of the wet weather is right now. right around santa cruz, twin lakes. this atmospheric river has been really aimed at the central coast, san martin, gilroy, monterey road seeing the wet weather. we have very spotty light returns right around our radar site. roberts road across 29. so the storm on live doppler 7 just hanging out off the coastline, continuing to feed the moisture into the monterey bay and producing some snow in the sierra. it's a level 1 for today and tomorrow. scattered showers, maybe moderate in pockets, just briefly, and breezy in spots. hour-by-hour forecast, 5:00 p.m. tonight, you can see still some showers going through the region. this trend continues, but notice as the night goes on, it becomes a little more spotty in nature. i'll let you know how long those showers are going to hang around when i co

let's begin with sandhya patel. sandhya: we are facing increasing fire danger towards tonight. let's look at the red flag warning. it extends from lake county to parts of napa and sonoma counties and even parts of solano county. it starts at 11:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. tomorrow. the concern is northerly winds will ramp up, minimum humidity 8% to 20%. when it's that dry and you have gusty winds with low humidity, any fires that develop will spread. as you go hour-by-hour, the winds are still on shore coming off the moist ocean water. the winds start to veer more out of the north as you pay attention to calistoga and middletown area. that is when the concern comes in as the winds begin to dry out the atmosphere. the fire danger index indicates this towards 11:00 a.m. tomorrow. we go into the high to very high category in terms of fire danger for parts of the north bay. this also means it will be a warm to hot one tomorrow. dan: we will see you in a few minutes with the 70 forecast. pg&e might proactivelyurn off power for about 8000 customers in an effort to preven wildfires. seven

sandhya: yes, but not for the bay area. it looks like the sierra southern california will have the best shot at seeing any rain. as you just mentioned, this is the area you want to keep an eye on, all right? this is last week for the central valley. take a look at the drought monitor. as of today, you can see that the central valley, that exceptional drought has expanded. fortunately, the monsoon moisture actually brought about some improvement in southern california and the sierra nevada. this area is actually looking at a decrease in the extreme drought category, so we have seen an improvement here in the bay area. no change. this is one of our driest months and we do not expect any rain locally. high-pressure funneling some of that monsoon moisture into the southeast portion of the state. as we go into next week, we will see an increase in that monsoon flow, which means more showers are expected in the sierra and southern california, which will help their drought situation. we will keep and i on it. karina: an initiative

thank you, sandhya. continue light traffic on the golden gate bridge means financial peril for the agency that operates the bridge as well as bus and ferry service between marin county and san francisco bridge crossings are down by 15% from pre-pandemic levels and down 30% during morning commutes. that's 100,000 fewer bridge crossings per day. we talk with the spokesperson for the golden gate bridge, highway and transportation district on our getting answers show today at three bridge tolls account for more than half of the district's operating revenue and help subsidize the transit services that the district provides. however, when bridge traffic declines, we still have enough money to maintain the golden gate bridge. but we're missing some funding that we had before the pandemic to subsidize our bus and our ferry transit systems to avoid falling off a fiscal cliff. the golden gate bridge, highway and transportation district is being forced to reduce expenses by scaling back on bus and ferry services is
