my name is ilid and i'm an excelsior resident. i also wanted to tell you that i work with youth.gh to vote, however, their voices still should be heard. so i have copies for you where they signed a letter of all the things that they want from the new mayor. aside from all the things that we want, the qualities like being fair and just being aware of all the issues that's going on in our neighborhood and our communities. so i have 11 copies here for you guys to take a look at. and one of them that they're really strongly -- and i'm definitely -- all of us are strongly prioritizing or would like the new mayor to prioritize is to build a network of community-based after-school programs, so our youth can get off the streets, into community-based programs and back to school and on track for developing productive young adults, which is what we're here for. so just keep that all in mind and i'm definitely confident that you guys will make a good choice. thank you. >> hi, good afternoon. my name is elizabeth ortega. and i'm here to represent the many youth and as a community organizer th

[applause] >> this one is for my dad in heaven and my mom and my brothers. i want to say that when i got my first teaching job for the peace corps in morocco, i never thought i would come back to the united states, and i took a lot of teaching jobs and climbed all over the world, and they sometimes intervene in the very same way. 14 years ago, i was allowed to interview in high school that nobody wanted to go to in san francisco, and a net even inspired fear in some community members, and that was balboa. i want to tell you that it was the best place for me at the time, and it is still the best place. i think it has become one of the best high schools, and it is because of all the teachers and students who have been there in the last 14 years and sort of made it what it was. i would not wish to be anywhere else. thank you. of the city drives our trends a policy more than the areas that are more far-flung -- the sunset, excelsior, lake view neighborhoods, and i really think that we're going to look at the study and how that makes congestion pricing feasible if we are going to implement that. it really has to be meaningful to people. a case in point, they have been turning around before getting down to ocean beach. the mission bustline as well. hast 280 going south towards daly city has stopped and turned around. people are not able to get to their final destinations as a common occurrence. if you want to be able to encourage people to get out of their cars and use more transit, we have to make sure that the transit options are being enhanced in those parts of town, and you really have to make sure that there is going to be a shift, not just in attitude, but in behavior of the mta and the transportation authority that is going to result in real resources going out to those neighborhoods. i want to make sure that is being covered as we're moving forward and looking at how we would make congestion pricing work. c
