around the immediate metro area temperatures are getting close to that 90-degree mark. 82 on kent island. 88 in columbia. 88 in annapolis. a light breeze. we have a southwest wind and southeast wind in elkton. they all have a bit of a southerly component. what we have is a stalled front to our south. it's going to allow ripple the of energy. because of that we're going to see the potential for thunder showers tonight and tomorrow. we have another front that's progreasing in from the northwest. that one will move more steadily and that will eventually increase the chances for thunderstorms tomorrow. so tomorrow a better chance. tonight during the heat of the day as long as the front is with us, we'll seat thunderstorm chances. some could be strong. high pressure will build in by saturday and into sunday. it looks like a nice weekend. south wind on the bay. the next high tide at first ft. at -- at fort mchenry. 71 tonight, thunderstorms in spots. there's your cooldown, 85 degrees, mostly cloudy and humid with thunderstorms scattered around the region. >> thanks for the four degrees. >> and

state from westminster over to bel air and 72 seems to be the magic number from columbia down to kent island and over toward annapolis. winds coming in primarily from the west and southwest. we knew this shift was going to happen, tapping into the warmer air that's going to be with us keeping our temperatures up around 90 degrees. this is all of the activity that's been going on. very broken up all along the eastern seaboard down to the carolinas. this front is going to continue to move through. this is a distinct line for the front. many of the showers have been out ahead of it, but until that front clears the area, we're going to have to allow for the chance of a thundershower. today we'll see a bit of cloud cover. the sun will peek through. it is not raining around the state. it's not a widespread activity. if you have plans out there, you can definitely go ahead with those plans, but just keep an eye to the sky and make sure you have a back up plan in the meantime if the showers should pop up and roll through. we'll see clearing this evening and into tomorrow, but still allow for the sho

and 86 down on kent island. we have been seeing the winds picking up just a little bit.light winds and almost a calm reading around noon or so. and then we start to see them pick up as whiffles of low pressure have been riding along that front. that is draped just across the state at this hour. we see double digits coming in. and we're tapping in that warmer air. look at these temperatures down near dallas. 100 degrees, 94 down on the bayou. and 91 in atlanta. that's what we are starting to feel. what we have is a front that has been stationary that is just below the station. it's draped right across the mason-dixon line almost. and going from the ocean into the ohio river valley. they do have another front approaching from the west/northwest. that is going to be here tomorrow. the combination of those two fronts and the strengths of all of that lifts that they are going to start to pull in, that warmer air, riding in over some of the cooler air, in the higher elevations. that's going to present a problem for us. and by the way, thunderstorms. some of them could be very
