i'm garvin thomas in for diane dwyerer. developing news out of east bay tonight. a major freeway remains shutd n shutdown. a van driver may have intentionally ran down and then dragged a motorcycle on eastbound interstate 580 in san leandro. nbc bay area's kimberly tere is there with the very latest. kim. >> reporter: garvin, eastbound 580 has been shut down for seven hours now as investigators take a look at the accident that killed one man, possibly a member of the hells angels and put another behind bars. >> reporter: this is the aftermath of a deadly accident on eastbound 580 in san leandro. police say the driver of a paratransit van hit a motorcyclist and dragged his bike a mile before coming to a stop close to 150th avenue. the victim was ejected off of the motorcycle, went underneath the van, and then the van proceeded with the motorcycle to a further spot down the freeway. >> reporter: police are investigating this as a homicide and have arrested the driver of the van. they say they're looking into reports that an altercation led the van's driver to intent

i'm garvin thomas in for diane dwyer. we begin with developing news. eastbound interstate 5880 in san leandro is shut down tonight. investigators are trying to piece together why the driver of a parra transit van allegedly intentionally hit a motorcyclist killing him and dragging his body for miles. nbc bay area's kimberly terry is live in san leandro with the latest. >> reporter: we're hearing that one man is dead. that man possibly a member of the hell's angels. and one man is in custody. as you said, eastbound 580 remains shut down at this hour as police investigate this fatal accident. we're being told it could take another several hours for it to fully reopen. authorities say they are investigating the incident as a homicide. according to police, the accident involved a motorcyclist and a para transit van. police say when the van hit the motorcycle it got stuck underneath and was dragged about a mile. the man on the motorcycle was also dragged but not nearly as far, and police say he died from his injuries. some reports indicate there may have bee

nbc bay area's garvin thomas has been monitoring the story and joins us with the very latest. this is in a very small location. >> seal beach. happened this afternoon. that's a town of about 25,000 people located between long beach and huntington beach. a gunman, according to one report, dressed in body armor, entered the salon meritage, police say opened fire on both employees and customers. six people declared at the scene, two more died at the hospital, one person still in critical condition. one man however has been arrested. >> within a minute i would say of the shooting, officers arriving, our officers were following the suspect. interior this is video just into our news room which shows the suspect being taken into police custody. police say they have information that the gunman was in a relationship with one of the employees at the salon. so for the moment they're working on the presumption this may be a case of domestic violence. caution, it's too early to know for sure. seal beach is described by people who live there as a quiet, safe community. there has been just o
