maria molina wants you to get there safe and on time. live in the fox weather center. to you as well, jaime. we want everyone to get there safely. if you live in the northwest you'll have to take extra steps to be safe. you'll get snow out there, rain, windy conditions and also expecting chilly temperatures. you'll also have to bundle up. if you live in the northeast it is much improved today, we have sunshine after the storm system that rolled through parts of the northeast yesterday bringing in up to 6 to 12 inches of snow across portions of new england. quite a bit of snow out there. that should be melting throughout the afternoon as temperatures will be climbing into the 40s across portions of new england. in the south temperatures warming up nicely, 71 will be your high in new orleans. mild across portions of the midwest. we will be looking at temperatures up to 20 degrees above what is normal for this time of year. that's definitely good news for thanksgiving day out there. as we head westbound that is where the unsettled weather is located. we have a large trough

let's check in with maria molina, testing her luck in the weather department.ng through the great lakes and southeast and bringing in batches of heavy rain. behind it, if you live across the center of the nation is looking good and temperatures on the chilly side out there. especially across the northern plains and otherwise it's a sunny and beautiful day and great for travel for anybody headed back into their home tou hometowns, if you headed out of town for the thanksgiving holiday. we have heavier rain across ohio, if you're travelling across columbus, you're looking at problems there. the southeast and some thunderstorms firing up out there and we're having a little issue with my clicker, but ahead of the system it's warm and highs in the 60's across portions of the northeast, new york city and jfk airport we actually tied a record high temperature. 64 yesterday and we could be looking at more warm temperatures today so get out and enjoy it, it will be a beautiful day across parts of the carolinas and also seeing the sunshine, maybe a shower or two across p

meteorologist maria molina is in the weather centerç to tell us where it is heading next. >>> we arene of those states is oklahoma. they just dealt with a quake now a new system could bring in dangerous weather to that state. right now we have that low pressure system heading east and impact portions of the plains?xáomorrow located across parts of the southwest not a lot of activity light snow across parts of the rockies. eastbound we have a second storm system that has the center of it has entered into parts of canada, frontal boundary across parts of the plains not a lot of moisture not much precipitation. low pressure system off the coast of theúcoutheast bringing in gusty winds along the coastal areas so people at the beaches there not getting the best of weather. otherwise, as far as both of these storms are headed the first heading eastbound not do a lot. second storm system moving through the four corners region by monday pulling in a lot of moisture out of the gulf, bringing heavy downpours for kansas, texas. texas needs theç rain and oklahoma as well. again we dealt with th

and meteorologist maria molina is in the >> they are about to get another snow storm. is actually two out west and they're introducing it in colorado and down impacting parts of colorado. there are wooperings. the one in pirching and that's when we will see the highest accumulation and that is including the highest in the mountain. we'll look at the first storm system bringing more snow in montana and colorado and mountains out there. and accumulations on the light side . maub a foot as you get in the peaks and that is high up. if anything that is it benefiting the ski resorts. there is rain on the cost. and further off in the east. that is the way it is going to at a the next several days . a lot of sunshine from the northeast down in the state of florida. otherwise both storm systems will head eastbound. the first one up in canada and bring it over the plains and that is going to wrap up athe plains. and even a risk for severe weather. on the back side colair. and everything from snow in part was arizona and new mexico and again in colorado and including the city of

meteorologist maria molina is live in the fox extreme weather center. >> basically a lot of snow out west. we've seen a lot of snowstorms early this season and we're continuing to get more snow. after the last snowfall across utah, some of the rockies picked up over a foot of snow. that is across some of the highest elevations. drive very carefully and you are going to continue to see more snow not just across the rockies but even parts of the pacific northwest. some of the cascades in washington picking snowfall out there. further off to the east, also unsettled, one system moving through the great lakes. this is going to be pulling in a lot of moisture ahead of it. we will be picking up rainfall out there. a slow go tomorrow morning as you head out tomorrow morning. you see the snow coming down across parts of colorado and western parts of the highest elevations of montana. just a couple of showers across the seattle area. winter chill mornings across colorado and blizzard warnings in effect for some of the high elevations. we're going to be looking very strong wind gust. 50-60 mil

maria molina is standing by live in the fox weather center with the forecast. o have unsettled weather for parts of the north and parts of california but overall it is generally a very nice day out for most of the country for thanksgiving day. that is good news. we have a lot of sunshine for the northeast, temperatures near normal, right where they should be this time of the year, 53 in new york city, and this allows the snow to melt across new england, some spots, six to 12 inches of snow. otherwise, that system is gone. across the south, pretty good sunshine, temperatures near normal. as we head to parts of the upper midwest and the west, we have sunshine expected so dry weather and temperatures well above average. some of these highs are actually up to 20 degrees above what's normal for this time of the year, so definitely a nice surprise for thanksgiving day. but here is the unsettled weather. we do have a trough digging into parts of the west and we're going to be looking at showers and heavy rain across northern and central california, a lot of snow across

maria molina live in the fox weather center with details.is not keeping people indoors most places, huh? >> reporter: that's right, jon. not a whole lot of snow across the country, so as you head outdoors and get in your car headed toward the mall, we're not looking at weather-related delays on the roadways. a lot of sunshine from the northeast to the southeast, high pressure keeping control of the weather and keeping things very nice with pleasant temperatures. you may head out early in the morn with your coat and later you're holding it in your hand. as we head welcome back, that's where we have some -- westbound, that's where we have some unsettled weather. we have a second storm across portions of the four corners bringing in some showers already early today and even some isolated snow showers, but that's really along high elevations, so we're not expecting a whole lot of problems with slippery roadways. they are an issue further off to the north where we have that second snow system. most to have snow will continue to wind down across p

wind creating hazardous conditions and meteorologist maria molina in the fox weather center with that. >> that's right, we have an area of low pressure off the coast-- off the carolina coast line and that's bringing in gusty winds. for beach goers, it's a rough go there. and there's rough surf along the coasts of florida and 20 to 30 miles per hour and not a lot of moisture with the system, because a lot is staying off shore and light showers, as far as rainfall goes, not a big rain maker, but the gusty winds will persist as we head into tomorrow and keep that in mind if you're headed out there. otherwise, as we head westbound, talking about a lot the of snow across the rockies and the system this weekend, and still do. one is finally to head out to canada and light snow across portions of north dakota and the second system currently impacting the state of california and that system is going to head eastbound and that's the one we have to watch very closely here over the next 24 to 48 hours because it's going to be heading east, pulling in a lot of gulf moisture ahead of it, bringing

maria molina, meteorologist, live in the severe weather center, it's gorgeous, but is this a foreshadowing of what's to come this winter is this. >> yeah. it's going to be a rough go out west. good news for ski resorts. still early in the season and we're already getting significant snowfall out there. not just from this week, but the past several weeks. we've seen storms that have dumped over a foot of snow in some spots. that's good news for business. not good if you're doing traveling out here. some of the passes do get hit with several inches of snow. we have one storm system that did move across parts of montana and also parts of arizona. that already brought snow. there is still a few advisories and warnings issued out across this region and the second storm system that will be impacting california right now already, bringing in rain along the lower elevations and also snow across higher elevations, will be impacting the region over the next few days. ahead of the storm system, we do have wind advisories. winds gusting at times 20, 30, 40 miles per hour. they could reach 60 miles per

meteorologist maria molina live in the fox extreme weather center. >> hi. that's right. we have a pair of storms and now actually a third one that's joining the party out west, just starting to impact portions of the pacific northwest. really very unsettled out west. the eastern half of the country is enjoying beautiful weather from the northeast all the way down into florida. we had a chilly start this morning, temperatures rebounded nicely during the afternoon hours. now let's talk about the three storm systems. one just off the coast of southern california, bringing in some rain out there. and one impacting colorado, that's bringing in some blizzard warnings, or prompting blizzard warnings in the area. not just because of the amount of snow we're going to see, which is over a foot of it across some of the highest elevations, but winds gusting between 50 to 60 miles an hour at times. it's very dangerous for anyone out there. and here is that look at that new storm system already starting to bring that heavy snow down across parts of the higher elevations of the cascade

maria molina, will that hold true, a good ski season for california? >> i really think so, not just for california but parts of the rockies. colorado has already seen significant snowfall already this season and just continuing with these two strong systems that are impacting out west. we have a number of advisories and winter storm warnings. you can see all the way up into montana we're looking at snowfall. first snowstorm occurring in parts of montana down into colorado. we have the second storm currently impacting parts of california where we have winter storm warnings in effect. it's a rough go if you do have any driving in the higher elevations. we're talking about over a foot. and higher elevations sometimes above 8,000 feet. that is some of the worst stuff. heading down to the valley, couple inches but nonetheless it's still enough to cause serious problems with driving out there. we also mentioned black ice with gusty winds and rough conditions for folks out there. as we head out to the east. a high pressure system is keeping conditions very ni

meteorologist maria molina in the fox weather center. >> we do have three areas of unsettled weather.eally doesn't have a lot of snow with it and that's off the coast of southern california where we are starting to see batches of heavy rain coming on shore. of course you mentioned the blizzard warnings and they are in effect across the state of colorado where we are seeing very heavy snow coming down right now. really the highest elevations where you are going to start to look at those accumulations of a foot or more. gusty winds are also going to be a major concern, gusting up to 50 to 60 miles per hour. blowing and drifting will be a major issue along the roadways. otherwise new storm system, third one impacting part of the pacific northwest. some coastal rain falling down, heavy along i-5. heavy snow across the mountains. winter storm warnings across the northwest and also the rockies and we do have those blizzard warnings across parts of the state of colorado where we are going to be looking at some of the highest snow accumulations and the strongest winds. generally speaking agai

meteorologist maria molina is in the fox weather center for us right now. maria? >> reporter: good morning guys. it is a dangerous storm system. very powerful for this time of the year. two other thing about that scenario occurring on northwest portions of alaska that the storm system is headed further off to the north and most storms do during this time of the year. this is an area not used to dealing with strong storm systems like this and there is very little sea ice on the water. so that is leaving many coastal areas susceptible to a stronger storm surge. normally that water would be frozen and acting like a protective barrier from some of the storm surge you typically see with these storms. it is very dangerous out there. the storms have strength and quite significantly we're starting to see some of the worst weather from the storm across northwestern portions of alaska. this is one of our model runs showing where some of the strongest wind gusts in excess of 80 miles an hour could be occurring along coastal areas. we're getting reports that some of those win

let's go to maria molina who has our weather. >> good morning.re headed out to do shopping, the weather will cooperate if you live across the eastern half of the country where we do have high pressure in place, and here in new york city, the weather is cooperating for us as well. we've got sunshine, beautiful weather, and temperatures will be right around where they should be for this time of the year. southeast with sunshine. further out to the west is where we do have some problems. there is two storm systems, one moving to the northwest. one across the southwest and both of those are bringing in unsettled weather. here is a look at the weather across new mexico, bringing in showers, heavier batches of rain across el paso. most of that will continue to move eastward and as we click ahead, you'll look at the one across the northwest where we have some snow showers across higher elevations. please, drive carefully. if you're doing any driving. and there are some gusty winds with this second storm system. as it does head eastbound, parts of the mi
