andrea fujii is live on the scene. good morning, andrea. >> reporter: good morning, don and everyone. this was a long night for the police in anne arundel and baltimore city state police. all ended up here at patapsco village. the suspect was shot and taken to shock trauma. it started at 2:30 in the morning. we have unconfirmed reports that the suspect shot was wanted for a crime, possibly a city shooting suspect. again, that's an unconfirmed report. he was stopped in baltimore county on 695 for a traffic violation. once it was determined he was wanted, he tried to run and there was a fight with the officer and the suspect stole the cruiser and the cruiser was found empty and he was picked up by friends in a bronco. the bronco was chased here in south west baltimore, this shopping area. the suspect got out, somehow, the suspect was shot by the police and taken to shock trauma and we're not certain of his condition now. no officers were injured. it's not clear if the suspect shot back at the police. we know that the bro

andrea fujii is live in pikesville. good morning, andrea. >> reporter: good morning, don and everyone. a state trooper was struck while conducting a traffic stop over the weekend, months after a city officer was hit. this 30-year-old of reisterstown is charged with a hit-and-run, the victim was a maryland state trooper who survived. >> we lost people in the line of duty like this. >> reporter: he hit the trooper as he conducted a stop on i-83 early sunday morning. he faces charges. it brings back memories from last june when a car hit this 27-year-old as she helped a disabled vehicle on i-83. the impact forced her over the concrete barrier, falling 25 feet. last fall, the state enforced a new law requiring motorists to move over or slow down for stopped emergency vehicles. >> i will brake, stopping on the brakes until i'm sure we have enough space, and then, i move. >> reporter: now, the trooper hit last weekend has been released from the hospital. the officer also survived. don, back to you. >>> drivers who don't move o

andrea fujii has the investigation and the growing anger over speed cameras. andrea? >> reporter: showing tickets to anyone going 40 miles or more above the speed limit. and many people don't like them. they're meant to catch speeders, mobile cameras like this, but also spark outrage which may have caused someone to light two of them on fire. >> we want people to know that if you do plan to damage any cameras, you will be held fully responsible. >> reporter: those incidents happened on wednesday morning and the other on friday. investigators now have both cameras, but the burn marks are still visible. police say some type of accelerant was used to light the boxes. it's not clear how much damage was done to them, but we're told they will be replaced. this isn't the first act of violence towards speed cameras. in july, a man attacked a state speed camera vehicle on the vw parkway with its operator still inside. residents rally to have their cameras removed. in t city, drivers have mixed feelings on them! they're annoying, but you're not supposed to be speeding. >> i'm n

andrea fujii is live with more on what police say happened on royal caribbean's enchantment of the sea. >> reporter: a 25-year-old royal caribbean employee is indicted on sex abuse of a minor. the alleged incident occurred when the ship left baltimore. on december 23rd, a 14-year-old girl told police she was alone on the ship's deck and encountered fabian palmer. she said he took her into the bathroom and started having sex with her. according to her, he stopped when another employee knocked on the door. they believe she was 16 years old. >> andrea, thank you. last year, several royal caribbean employees were indicted on charges of smuggling heroin and cocaine on board a baltimore-bound cruise ship. >>> a man arrested for drunkenness on new year's eve is behind bars. he escaped from police because an officer was trying to arrest him. and he was attacked by another man. it happened in east monument and north row streets. the entire video was caught on tape by a witness. police say he's now in jail, charged with escape, assault, and resisting arrest. >>> startling new details. a judge un

andrea fujii is live with one family's desperate escape. >> reporter: a grandmother, mother, and toddler, all survived the nearly to foot jump, but the home is a total loss. the one alarm fire broke out at 6:00 in the morning on the 300 block of south fulton street startling neighbors. >> i saw the smoke and fire, flames coming from the window, it's next to mine. >> i saw some fire and when i woke up, it was kind of scary. >> reporter: inside was a 45- year-old woman, a 21-year-old daughter and her 2-year-old girl. trapped on the second floor, the grandmother jumped out of the second story window, the mother threw her toddler out of the window and jumped out herself. neighbors say they can't imagine how scared the family was. >> that is crazy. i have a 2-year-old little boy in the house that is close to her. that could have been us. >> reporter: all three were taken to different area hospitals for injuries suffered from the jumps. the mother also suffered second and third degree burns, but everyone is expected to survive. back to you. >> it's not clear if someone caught the toddler or if

andrea fujii live with more on this investigation. >> reporter: good afternoon, everyone. police say the fourth victim, a man from severna park was going the right way when he was hit head-on. it was 3:30 saturday morning when police say a car was going west in the eastbound lanes of route 50 in davidsonville striking a car going east. it was a head-on collision that ended in a fire. killed in the car going the right way was 55-year-old terry davis. in the other car were 18-year- old brianne that franco and zachary rose and 19-year-old brittany walker. norman walker tells wjz it was his granddaughter brittany who was behind the wheel of the car going the wrong way. >> i told her to be careful. she said she would. i don't know if alcohol is related or not. i just don't know. >> reporter: police haven't determined if she was the one behind the wheel or if alcohol played a role in the crash. >> i would just hold her and tell her i love her. >> reporter: mr. walker says his granddaughter told him she was going to a party with friends at about 11:00 and never came home. don, ba

i'm andrea fujii. that accident happened early this morning on route 50 in anne arundel county. wjz is live at state police headquarters. weijia jiang tells us how the chaotic scene all unfolded. weijia? >> reporter: andrea, there are still several unanswered questions about this accident. but tonight, we can tell you, police say it all happened because a car was traveling in the wrong direction on the highway. this road appears to be ordinary. but just hours before, around 3:30 a.m. saturday -- >> it was a horrific morning. >> reporter: four people lost their lives on route 50 east at maryland 424 in davidsonville. >> this vehicle that was traveling westbound, eastbound route 50, carrying three passengers, struck head-on, a single-passenger vehicle. >> reporter: police identified the three people inside this same car as 18-year-olds briana franco and intrakary rhodes and 19-- zachary rhodes and 19-year- old britney walker. just moments before, police received a call that a driver was going the wrong way on 50. but before police arrived, it had already crashed, causing a fire. th
