jc hayward is off today. we begin with breaking news. a woman is dead after being shot in censton and -- kensington and police are searching for her killer. it happened at the intersection of connecticut and knowles avenue. connecticut is closed in both directions between pliers mill road and knowles. >> reporter: a van pulled up to this intersection and that's when a woman in the passenger seat threw opened the doors are started screaming for help. witnesses say she was covered in blood. that's when the male driver grabbed her, pulled her back inside the van, shot her in the head and then threw her out into the middle of connecticut avenue before speeding off. the victim's body i'm sad to say still in the middle of the street behind this barricade as montgomery county police continue to investigate. this all happened in broad daylight at the tail end of the morning rush. there were dozens of witnesses. in fact, when police arrived, several people were already giving the woman cpr. police took over but it was too late. the woman died on
