back to armando trull in damascus. he's been surveying some of the flooding. we've been getting quite a few pictures of flooded out bridges and things from there. where are you right now armando? >> well, i'm still in the parking lot of it damascus elementary school, and we were telling that you we were expecting that second round of storms to be coming in, any minute now. it's begun to rain right now, but the most -- the clearest indication that that second round of storms is approaching is the fact that this is a round of storms that's coming in on a cold front, and the temperature has dropped significantly in the last hour. it is now 66 degrees here. that is a lot colder than it was just a few hours ago. the first signs that that storm is heading this way again. it brought a lot of flooding in this area. a bridge just a mile down the road was flooded. we expect that could happen again. we've seen power. we've seen trees and branches down on the road. folks have basically taken to the streets again. i guess they're taking advantage of this lull, but let me te

our armando trull is live in frederick with the details of a dramatic rescue. armando? >> reporter: considering just how fierce this flooding was, they were very lucky that there were no serious injuries reported, but plenty of close calls. rescue crews, of frederick county, they have been busy tonight. the run-off water from several hours of heavy rain from the second round of storms flooded this low-lying bridge, leaving this young driver standing on the roof of its car. >> well, i was just driving and i definitely did not see the water or anything. and i just kind of got stuck. >> they called it home, yeah. it you know when he gets in trouble, we get the phone call. >> reporter: and what did he say? >> he said i'm stuck in water and i'm scared to death and he was panicked. and he said that he needed us to come get him out. he thought the water was rising. we told him to get out and get on the roof. >> reporter: the first round of storms flooded some parts of damascus, including a small bridge on the road. the drivers were lucky that they were not swept away by the ru

in charlottesville, armando trull, 9news now. >> supporters are saying they'll be back in front of theuad on tuesday. >>> a firefighter is injured after fighting a blaze in mount rainier. the house fire started around 3:00 this morning in an empty two story dwelling on 32nd street. firefighters battled the flames from the outside and one firefighter suffered minor injuries. he was taken to the washington hospital center where he was treated and later released. the cause of the fire is under investigation tonight. >>> we've got an update now on that roof collapse at a shopping center in ontario, canada. 9news now first told you about the collapse at the algo center mall in elliot lake last night. now officials say one person may have been killed in that mishap and another may still be trapped in the rubble. >> everything has been uncovered. it leads up to the fact that -- [ indiscernible ] the area is still unstable and dangerous. it is estimated by emergency crews that there will be a quote ten to 12 hours of further stabilization required in the area before the rescue crew is able to

armando trull is out in the midst of things. a short time ago he said things had calmed down. that still the view? >> it still. aus mentioned this is the calm before the next storm, but folks have headed out into the streets. traffic quite, quite heavy now in comparison to would it was just a few hours ago when the rains were really coming down in this portion of damascus and where just a few miles away there was a flooded bridge over a small creek. folks have decided to go out and see what's going on, even delivering pizza to folks that have decided to stay home. don't know how smart that is right now because as you have heard topper mention we're expecting another round of storms headed in this direction. once again, take a look at just how fast those clouds are moving over the skyline, over the tree line. it is amazing the speed at which they're moving. that tells you how fast that -- those storms are going to be coming in and how fast when the rain hits with wind, how fast that's going to happen. but at this point here in damascus, things are quiet now. that's good news. b
