we've seen a lot of storms roll through, kentucky, southern portions of west virginia, tennessee. so far the rainfall hasn't made it over the mountains but we're beginning to add to our temperature today and as we start to heat up, then you start to destabilize and that will give us the opportunity later on today. right now it's not so bad. we are already at 80 degrees. that's an update this hour for reagan national airport. i'm expecting our highs should hover right around 85 degrees. we have to keep our forecast down a couple of degrees this afternoon from the original because these clouds are not breaking whatsoever since the early morning hours. we'll continue to say mostly cloudy through midday, late afternoon. by about the 3:00 or 4:00 hour, most of us will start to see some storms moving on in in our area. the good news is we are in a code green for our air quality alert. we scoured out some of that mugginess or i should say the oppressive heat we had over the last couple of days but with these storms, we do have some danger of that flooding coming on through. that's why we

southern frederick county. this actually stretches all the way in toward jefferson county, west virginia, cross junction, northern frederick county, virginia all moving to the east and a little bit of lightning at 5:22 near the virginia-west virginia border. another stop taking us to huntington county. south of dunkirk, north of prince frederick. even coming out of harrisonburg, culpeper, make fauquier -- maybe fauquier county, orange, you'll see some of that as well. temperatures this morning still warm. they're not in the 80s but the 70s. we'll have highs in the 80s the entire week. right now still wet out there on our michael & son weather camera. 75 at national with a northeast wind at 15. dew point 72. so it is still rather muggy with the rain around. we're seeing a lot of showers and storms stretching from missouri actually to nebraska right through the ohio and ten valleys. -- tennessee valleys. that's the front that came through here and will continue to come through. we'll have the showers and storms with us for a few more hours this morning but looks like the better chance this afternoon will be south o

west virginia has scattered out. there might be a little something in southern prince george's county into calvert. continuing to move east at 25 miles an hour and nothing too severe. over to sentinel radar now because we've also been watching the baltimore area where we continue to have a flash flood warning until 2 a.m. the activity has moved toward the chester town area. heavy rain is being produced by that and maybe some winds gusting to 40 or 50. there's been tree damage in that region. we watched the whole line. it was very bad up through pennsylvania and new york state, about 400 reports of wind damage up there. what i want you to see as this goes in motion, notice how the first part of this line is weakening out and moving. we get a little break except for our activity here and there's another batch coming through west virginia. we get in closer on this. this will probably also weaken out and cross our area in the overnight hours. we'll keep scattered showers and thunderstorms in the forecast overnight. the severe thunderstorm watch has been whittled down to a few counties including prince

heat advisory in missouri and southern illinois and kentucky and west virginia because of how hot itdity with index values still over 100 degrees. virginia and north carolina and south carolina also included in some of the heat advisory. the system that will bring in relief through many areas, from the hot temperatures is a cold front and ahead of it we have the hot temperatures, very humid conditions, and unfortunately that is a recipe for showers and storms. we are seeing that right now in some could produce damaging wind gusts and large sized-hail that could produce damage. we have two severe thunderstorm watches in virginia, west virginia, and northern kentucky until 10:00 p.m., so conditions favorable for the strong storms to fire up. so keep an eye on it. >>gregg: it is sunny right new so you are talking later tonight after 10:00. maria: further south much not here. new york is fine. >>gregg: we are okay. >> thanks very much. >> wildfire victims in colorado dealing with a new danger: mudslides. heavy rains triggering multiple mudslides. some communities are fighting backfilling
