i'm chief meteorologist doug kammerer, coming to you from storm center 4. as they're making their way through the area, once again just about all the area under a tornado watch. the line of storms right now making its way through, starting to intensify all across our region. this is the area under a warning. a warning means that something is happening right now. in this case, it is a severe thunderstorm warning for culpepper, down through the south, in through fauquier, spotsle vannia, for this area here. i want to show you one thing. anytime you see a line like this, and a protrusion just like this, that's called a bo echo. normally you see stronger winds with that. if you live around culpepper, you probably are already see those winds. stevens 'burgh in about eight minutes remmington in about 12 minutes, and silver hill in about the next 22 minutes. up toward the north, portions of montgomery county, a this morning right in here. i would not be surprised to see some strong winds here, back through louding county where we have seen some flooding of roadway

let's go to chief meteorologist doug kammerer standing by with more on our potential for flooding and wind damage. >> yeah, veronica, the national weather service just issued the wind advisories for the entire area. earlier today it was out towards portions of the blue ridge, but today it's for the entire area with winds gusting upwards of 50 miles an hour. these are non-thunderstorm wind gusts. with winds gusting to 50 miles an hour, you know we could see higher gusts if any of those storms begin to develop. also out there we have the flood watch in effect, but take a look at the wind gusts, upyards of 35 miles an hour p and over towards washington, a wind -- these winds will continue to increase as we move through the evening. there's the flash flood whauch in effect. it is for the d.c. metro area, in portions of the mountains we could see upwards of an inch to an inch and a half. very, very quickly, and that's why we're talking about that potential for flooding overnight. if you're out and about tonight, you watch out for the high water if you're around town. temperatures tonight 6

i'm meteorologist doug kammerer, talking about the cold air that's moved in, the wind that's moved in, and the snow you can expect for tomorrow morning's rush hour. yeah, yeah. 39 degrees the temperature out there, winds out of the west at 16 miles an hour. yeah, we're going to talk about that. the wind gusts at 24 light now. that puts our windchills into the teens. 17 the current windchill in gaithersburg. 34 at ft. bill advisory, and camp springs coming in at around 33. a couple light snow showers across the region, around portions of montgomery county. a few light snow showers there, but it's the system that's organizing itself in the middle part of the country. that's going to move through overnight. i've been looking at this the last couple days, maybe a snow shower, but now it's looking like it could produce some accumulation. this is 6:00 in the morning and here we go with light to moderate snow across the region at a critical time. so once again, we're talking about rush hour event, also talking about a very similar event to what we saw twice last week, a quick half inch, pote

i'm meteorologist doug kammerer. we started off the week on our monday with a two-hour delay in many locations because of ice problems. temperatures in the upper 20s lower 30s. today we hit mere 70 degrees. what a difference a day makes. sitting at 59. winds out of the south at 10 miles an hour. very mice evening. it is going to con to be so. 62 in rockville and college park. 61 towards camp springs. 63 in reston. warrenton coming in at 64 degrees. very warm day today. i think we will see one more warm day and then all bets are off. things will change big time once again. we went way up today. next couple of days we are bogey to go way back down. this is the reason why. not around our region just yet. way back to the west this is the cold front that has snow behind it. out ahead of it looking at severe thunderstorms, tornado warnings and watches and all of that is moving our way and it is going on make its way in here tomorrow might. tomorrow during the day, i think another nice day. more cloud cover but still temper
