a little bit of the 30s in the blue ridge and the upper elevations. 37 in winchester and 38 in martinsburg. but as you can see here on satellite and radar, the rain is staying to the south. a few showers reaching the ground in the d.c. metro. this activity will continue to move off to the east as we head into the overnight hours and into wednesday morning. and still some clouds will be in place, but as we head into wednesday afternoon, lots of sunshine returning. and those breezes will be coming from the north so that will bring us that cooler and drier air. and that's what you're going to see in your forecast throughout the day on wednesday, but on thursday a little bit of the rebound in our temperatures here. so overnight tonight partial clearing and it will be chilly, 26 to 32 for your overnight lows. winds are out of the north at 5 to 10 miles an hour, but the winds will increase. mostly sunny with the temperatures in the 30s. and with those winds, it's going to feel like it's in the upper 20s for most of the days into the afternoon even. we'll get top 35 in the suburbs -- we'll get up

gaithersburg, 36 in manassas, a southwest breeze keeping us above freezing even in culpeper and martinsburg. satellite and radar shows the showers, a few snow showers up to our north but you can see where the rain showers are trying to sneak in and a few of them reaching the d.c. metro but not reaching the ground so we are keeping it dry as we head through the overnight hours. we will see plenty of clouds, though, and as you're ringing in the new year, nothing going on, some more snow in garrett county but they've got plenty of snow over the past week or so, more than a foot actually in parts of garrett county. a few showers, especially to the south of d.c. as we head into the afternoon on tuesday, new year's day, most of us will stay pretty dry, maybe just a couple 100th of an inch of rain. and as i mentioned before, if there are snowflakes they are going to melt when they hit the ground. overnight tonight, mostly cloudy, maybe a sprinkle but staying dry, i think. 29 to 34 for those overnight lows with winds out of the southwest at five to 10 miles per hour. tomorrow morning mostly cloudy
