. >> now, from the top of the newscast from san francisco for the south bay to the east bay, bay area police are investigating a rash of officer-involved shootings, this past weekend, the latest was in hair, and that is where our reporter is joining us live. cornell? >> it was a violent weekend for police. we are live at foothill and d street here in hayward. this is where a police shooting came to a deadly end this week when a suspect tried to ram a hayward police car. it happened on sunday after police fired eight shots into a honda after police say the driver tried to ram the patrol car which had a civilian inside for a ride along. a passenger in the honda was killed and the driver crashed and ran away. police later caught up and arrested the suspect, 23-year-old. here is what a witness saw. >> i looked out and i saw the cops running to the car with the guy right around that little turn over there. i heard them say "face on the ground." that is gunfire from another shooting in san jose where a suspect tried to ram three police cars. it was one of several shootings involving bay are

let's take it to the radar lit up like a christmas tree in the south bay. look at the batch of moisture getting ready to smack downtown san jose. san jose is a sprawling area. it will be a rough drive to work as the most active time period will be between now and 7:00 a.m. so within the next 15 a, 20 minutes the moisture is headed toward 17. you really, really want to travel cautiously this morning. let's talk about what we expect today. winds will continue to be strong as we head throughout the first few hours. all the way through mid-morning and the winds start to drop off. a cold blast will settle in enough for strong thunderstorms to fire off today. we'll take you to the full forecast in a minute. first we want to check the drive. mike, it's looking like a nasty one. >> we have seen early morning solo car spinouts. one car spinning out on the driveway. wet roadways combined with the winds. we are at the san mateo bridge and see the camera mounted steadily. we see westbound traffic and slick roadways and water. folks headed toward us and away from us. we

south bay, things are working pretty nicely. south 880 slows a little slowing down towards 280. no crashes, incidents or real activity. i'll check on why those are slow. a live look outside shows you the bay bridge toll plaza. no lights. we have your road crews upper and lower deck. you are only losing about one lane. >> very good. we are going to talk about the golden gate bridge set to go cashless in two days. the new all electronic to youing system will go into effect on wednesday. bridges are making last-minute changes to make sure drivers are prepared as possible. crews will use a crane to hoist a 27-foot sign on top of the toll plaza that will read, do not stop. automatic automatic towing. during the first day, employees will stand near the toll booth to wave traffic through. >>> a new tunnel will open. the official ribbon cutting for the grand opening happens just a few hours from now. crews will still have a little work to do after that. they will have to divert traffic off the rolled route. the tunnel and bridge bypass will be open to drivers. the new road replaces the e

the conditions are active, especially in the south bay. g to play a bigger factor than the rain as we progress. rain starting to push out of the bay area. your highways are nice and slick. when you couple slick conditions with gusty winds it's downright treacherous. we are holding onto the sustained wind speed in oakland at 25 miles per hour. 18 miles per hour sustained in concord. just a few minutes away from the winds starting to pick up in the south bay. make sure you are ready. now you can see the moisture pushing into the south. that's the cold front there. the corresponding area of low pressure is on the way as we head to tonight and tomorrow morning. that's what's going to drive in instability. strong thunderstorms possible in the bay area. want to take you through your day via the future cast. you can see a little bit lighter activity. you want to keep the umbrella handy with stray showers around. tonight by 6:00 p.m. a little bit of a break for the evening commute. we are not out of the woods yet. more rain moves in through thursda
