i'm claudine wong in for tori campbell. >>> topping our news this morning -- the new bay bridge, engineers say they think they now hoe to fix the -- know how to fix the broken bolts. about you there's a catch. this could delay the opening of the bridge. caltrans met with the metropolitan transportation commission. brian flores was there and will tell us what was said. >> reporter: good afternoon. as work continues on the bay bridge, there's still concern of about 30 or more bolts that were installed earlier this year. while officials remain confident in the bridge, there's still questions on how some bolts snapped in the first place. bridge engineers gave a public update in front of the metropolitan transportation commission. at question, 30 bolts that became fractured. when they re-examined those bolts, they found bolt fractures. this morning, officials blame hydrogen which weakens the strength of the bolts but they told the commission they don't know where it came from. >> it could have come from the manufacturing process. it could have come from the fact the bolt locations were embedded
