but we just got an update from chp a couple of minutes ago. by 7 a.m.e next half hour, they hope to reopen the entire freeway. in fact, just a couple of minutes ago they were able to get more southbound 680 lanes open. it looks like all of the southbound lanes are just being cleared right now except for that carpool toll lane. that's is still blocked. we still have a big backup unfortunately. so you still want to find alternates around this mess. the fatal accident happened around 4:30 this morning. you can see from our sensors it's backing up now even beyond highway 84. it looks like right around that sunol committee we are starting to see some brake lights and continuing all the way on down towards about sheridan. so just past the accident scene it's slow. as far as alternates go, niles canyon to mission boulevard, that would be a great one. chp also recommended cutting over using westbound 580 and using southbound 880 to get down towards the south bay. so obviously it's a longer way around but in the meantime until they completely clear this accident
