meteorologist samantha moore has more on the latest.ight, so new year's eve tomorrow night a lot of people will go out and celebrate, what will it look like? >> it will be mighty chilly indeed. and i know you're prepared for it anderson, as the cold air spills in across much of the country. and specifically in times square, we're talking temperatures right around freezing throughout much of the evening. but when the winds blow out of the west at 15, we'll have the wind chill factor down to two degrees, so you know, very chilly, especially when you're outside for extended periods of time. atlanta will be great here, dropping the peach in centennial park, we're talking temperatures in the low 40s, upper 30s and no rain for a change. this is the first time in a long time there was a dry stretch here in atlanta ending the year in 2013. so 16 and a half inches ahead. chicago seeing the snow come down throughout the evening, the wind chill factor getting down as low as five degrees. denver, not by denver standards should be in the mid-30s, up

samantha moore joins us to pin point the site of the wreck. >> i'm just going to take you in here showinghe northeast. we have washington, d.c., new york, philadelphia. there's long island. we're going to zoom into manhattan, take you up the hudson river. the location was spiuyten duyvi. here are the train tracks. and you can see just how severe this curve is. here is the station right here that apparently the train was heading towards and was unable to stop. and then the train actually came around the corner. and when we look at those pictures, the train is kind of lined up and came very close to the water. air temperature time of the crash was in the mid-30s in the area. light winds, fair skies, a little overcast, but the visibility was fine. that obviously was not an issue. water temperature at the time was in the mid-40s, which is typical for this time of year, that's why divers had wet suits on to insulate, because it only takes 30 to 60 minutes in water that cold to lose consciousness and an hour or two to survive. that gives you the lay of the land on how things are set up here at

samantha moore helps us pinpoint the length. >> we are going to take you down the north manhattan linee is poughkipsie. it goes through the curves on that 1:15 minute train ride which takes you into the bronx here along the hudson river where it meets the harlem river. where these come together and this is a turbulent area of water here. that is what spuyten duyvil means. rough waters divers were in here earlier where the water temperature was 45 degrees. you can see here is the actual track as it comes around that curve and here is where the trains were derailed. 7 trains in all involved in that accident and all of those cars were tipped over on their sides. this gives you the idea of that
