a chicago police officer was shot in the head while serving a search warrant on the city's far south side. judy wang is live at the 4th district police headquarters with more. >> the police superintendent says the officer based here in the south chicago fourth district is a tactical officer. an exceptional officer he has received 245 awards from the department. he is out of the hospital. police believe one of the people taken into custody was the shooter. the officer and others went to a home near east 92 just before 9:00 p.m. executing a search warrant in a narcotics case. the suspect named in the warrant lives in the basement of the building. while inside the house someone fired in the officers direction the bullet ricocheted and hit the officer in the for head between his eyes. a fragment is lodged in his forehead. he was taken to the hospital and transferred to northwestern memorial. the superintendent says the officer who was 34 years old has been on the force for 11 years and was days. he was talking and in good spirits. investigators recovered a weapon at the scene. >> shots w
