kentucky's uninsured rate dropped by 40%. these numbers explain why kentucky's democratic governor who is perhaps the biggest supporter of obamacare in the entire south called the law a, "a gift from heaven." just a few days ago, kentucky senior senator republican mitch mcconnell was still calling the law disastrous saying, "the pain caused by this terrible law is easy to see." 49% of kentucky voters who recently said they want to repeal the law probably agree with that sentiment. there's also a political disconnect in fully understanding it in kentucky. perry bacon points out this week at yahoo! news "even republicans here say some kentuckians will criticize obamacare but in the next breath emphasize how well the statewide exchange known as connect works as if they're not part of the same law." join me now is the governor of kentucky, democrat steve beshear. governor beshear, thanks for joining us tonight. i was so eager to talk to you today really because of that clip we showed at the beginning from jimmy kimmel's show. tha

we've always known kentucky is going to be a dog fight. we've had indications that arkansas was a little more favorable to democrats than people had been thinking, so in one sense this is confirming there have been a sense for a little while now, but the big take away for me, when i take a step back, it's almost shocking to think of the south, this region that's moved so decisively against president obama, none are states he carried in 2012, the south could be the salvation of democrats in 2014. >> well, it's remarkable, because in part, obamacare, which the republicans staked everything on, while it still might be a problem even in some of these southern states for sure, is not quite the political disaster that it looked like last october when the republicans staked their entire philosophy and game plan on opposing it. that's number one. two, the democrats are raising substantial amounts of money, and number three, in these states, in arkansas and kentucky, the popular democratic governors accepted the expansion of medicaid and those demo

schools i mentioned are being investigated by being -- the kentucky attorney general.he is joining us right now from kentucky. of for-profitroup colleges. thank you for joining us. what is the worst abuse? >> thank you for taking this issue up. it has been underreported. i was listening to you as they came on the air. you hit the nail on the head. the thing that is most concerning to me is the amount of our tax dollars going to these schools. it is over $30 billion per year. the economic model for the for-profit colleges, when you look at a traditional school, most of the money will go toward education. if you look at the for-profit model, 25% is going toward marketing. another 20% is going to profit for the school. that is $.55 on the dollar to try to stretch for an education where the credits do not transfer any students are left with debt that they cannot discharge. it is the model in terms of how much they are spending on recruiting. it is the high-pressure sales tactics that a lot of these students are subjected to. >> i will put the same question to you. these in
