michael kaye, schiavo as well as david jourdon. how would you conduct the search?imitations. the air crew has been on a search for 45 days. that brings fatigue and the actual available crews that are conducting the search, as well as the airframes and the services. the longer these aircraft fly, the longer you have to ground them for in order to service them as the days and weeks and months go by. so there will have to be a reset because there isn't a hunl amount of resource, a limited amount of resource in order to take this investigation further. so i think we're coming to a natural conclusion for a regroup and a reset. that doesn't mean the search is going to be called off. there's just going to be a reassess. . >> and david, when you're talking about the underwater search, how would you rethink that part of this? >> i think there's probably some information we don't know yet or haven't assimilated well yet. realize the bluefin asset is kind of a quick response capability. it's meant to get there and find something quickly. if you can't, then you really should t

. >>> joining us in new york, our cnn aviation analyst jeff wise and michael kaye. welcome to you both. good to have you with us. michael, if i could start with you. we hear from ahn prime minister tony abbott sounds of optimism, as he says, that he's confident, very confident, in fact, that the signals coming out of the indian ocean are from the black boxes. then we hear from angus houston, he appear to be tempering that confidence. what's your read of the situatio situation? >> look, i think there are serious ramifications to any information that would lead to a false start. what i mean by that is not just from tony abbott's political credibility, but the number-one priority at the moment which is getting closure for the families and loved once of m -- loved ones of mh 370. i think we've seen over the past week optimism creeping in to the investigation. we saw angus houston's press conference last saturday. this then led to the australian defense prime minister having a sort of smaller press conference, and you in we see tony abbot on the international stage talkin

michael kaye and i have been talking about that.n future to track them without any upgrades to the airplanes themselves. >> we know 26 countries are assisting in the search and the investigation. you pointed out that is the most most expensive search of its kind and becoming more expensive as the days go on. when you look at the numbers of resources. 11 planes searching for the debris. you've got 26 countries. do you think that -- well, 12 now. one with the civil aircraft that's been added. do you think there's enough resources in this area that's now expanded search area for debris? >> remember, we've been looking all up and down this southern arc, this vast area. it's five weeks now. nothing has turned up. i think the question eventually is going to become how long do you commit these kinds of resources to a search that doesn't really seem to be panning out? are we looking in the wrong place? is the plane even in this hemisphere? it's hard to know what the appropriate amount of resources to deploy is because we don't really know w
