the caribbean is getting plenty of rain from tropical storm bertha the details. serious of a storm is this? >> not serious. actually, this is a much needed amount of crane for the caribbean. drought situation, you wouldn't normally thing about the caribbean. they have seen it and this is pretty much quite a bit of rain with it. we are not seeing winds. about 45 miles per hour. it is a tropical storm that has just passed to the south of puerto rico. it is making its way right now to the demenrepublican republic definitely feeling the effects of the drought. these are the latest coordinates on the eastern edge of the dominican republic. let me tell you why we are looking at a drought situation, about 62 days in to the atlantic hurricane season. this is only the second storm we have seen so far. the caribbean relies on these storms for most tour and rain and they haven't seen it. a lot of these islands, especially here across the east are in a drought situation. this storm right here is bringing the rain, going to be making its way up towards the turks and kakos ove

storm system in the caribbean has been officially designated a tropical depression by the national hurricaneenter. this storm has been bringing heavy rains and flash flooding to puerto rico and thousands are now without power. we'll take a closer look in my forecast. but now let's look locally at our headlines. the first thing is we will see clearing skies. it will take a while but i promise you as we head into sunday it will be a beautiful day. mostly sunny skies for us and a dry stretch for the seven-day forecast. we have a few days where we're going to see plenty of sunshine and temperatures well above average. from philadelphia right now, 65 degrees with a few clouds. the humidity at 87%. the wind at 5 miles an hour. and we're at 61 in the poconos. 63 in allentown. in the 60s in mount holly. closer to the shore, cooler at 62 degrees at the atlantic city airport. warmer at stone harbor. mild if you are closer to the shore. the other thing we're seeing is patchy fog right now. the visibility down to two miles in potts town, three miles in allentown. four in quakertown. clear in the poconos

speaking of the east, some developments in the tropics east of the caribbean, nothing too well developed yet but a lot of computer models developed this and bring it in the general direction of the united states as we go into next weekend. as you can see with this future model here as it goes through the dominican republic and perhaps toward the bahamas. but it's got a long way to go. there are very unfavorable conditions for this time of the year down in the caribbean for development. for tonight, we have scattered showers, no big thunderstorms, no torrential rain, 70 degrees in philadelphia, 65 north and west. tomorrow we expect more activity, showers and thunderstorms, maybe a couple showers in the morning, more activity in the afternoon, highs in the low to mid-80s. and the seven-day forecast, way above-average temperatures here, more showers on friday, maybe some steady rain in some areas. so that's kind of a nasty day. saturday we could start off with clouds and then gradually improve. and once the sun comes back, we've got a really nice pattern here, although it's going to gradual

a sun burn is not the major concern for people in the caribbean. meteorologist kevin corriveau joins us for tropical storm bertha. >> we have been talking about this. bringing rain to parts of the caribbean because we are in a drought situation for many of the islands. we are talking about the turks and caicos islands where the storm is located. it was making its way from peurto ricco to the dominican republic. we have the newest track. these are spaghetti plots, they look like spaghetti dropped down. these are the models saying where the storm will go. it will keep it off the coast of the united states, but that doesn't mean that the united states is not going to start to see some of the effects of the storm later on. we'll get a little bit of rain in the cape. a little rain there. if you are going to the beech along the coast -- beach along the coastal area, it could be a problem because of ripp tides as well as rough currents. so was we talk monday and tuesday, all the way up here to cape hadres, and as we go through the rest of the week it will
